Landings Landlovers
Enriching the Community We Love
May Newsletter
President's Message
The Landlovers Board looks forward to spring every year. Our major fundraising is done and we turn to awarding Grant, Scholarship, and Merit Awards that help continually improve community life at The Landings and Skidaway Island. It is through your generosity and hard work that we are able to continue this tradition. Since inception Landlovers has given out over $1.7 million in grants, scholarship, and merit awards.

Landlovers scholarships are designed to assist Landings Association and Landings Company employees and their immediate dependent family members with expenses for post high-school education. The Landlovers Merit Awards Program recognizes the children of Landings residents who engage in Community Service. Thanks to Maryce Cunningham and her committee who review the applications, interview the candidates, and make recommendations to the board for awards. It is inspiring to hear the stories of these outstanding young people.

The Landlovers Grant program provides philanthropic support for non-profit groups and service organizations that enhance the lives of residents of The Landings and Skidaway Island. We fund projects and programs that provide cultural and educational services, tend to our health and safety, and projects that beautify and improve our environment. This year 17 organizations have submitted grant requests.

After careful consideration of all requests, the Board votes on the funding to be awarded.  Recipients will be notified by the end of April and awards given out on May 16. Awardees will be announced in our next newsletter.

Our Annual Meeting takes place on Tuesday, May 23, 7:30 – 7:45 pm at our Closing Celebration, Dinner in White. At the meeting we’ll share highlights of this year including our fundraising and philanthropic results. We’ll recognize the outgoing board and vote on the new Board. All Landlovers members are welcome to attend the annual meeting. If you’re not attending the Dinner in White, just come to the “secret” location at 7:30 to hear the latest results. The “secret” location will be announced a week in advance in an Eblast. There are still a few spots left for the Dinner in White so it’s not too late to get in on the fun. It promises to be a Magical Evening and memorable way to end the year.
Hope to see all of you there.

Landlovers Closing Celebration
DINNER IN WHITE
Tues, May 23rd, 6:30-9:45 pm
Say “au revoir” to the Landlovers year and “bon jour” to the next year’s board at the Closing Celebration—a French-themed gourmet picnic. To add a little intrigue, the location for our picnic is a secret until a few days before May 23. (Hint: it isn’t far away!)

Although it’s a picnic, the cocktail hour will be “tres chic” with French-inspired hors de’ oeuvres, champagne and cocktails. When it’s time for dinner, voila! you’ll be seated outdoors at a table with a view, white linens and candlelight. Enjoy the French cheese and charcuterie appetizer, followed by a picnic box with tastings of tuna niçoise, crab Louie, chicken salad, filet mignon and asparagus vinaigrette, accompanied by baguettes and butter. Bon Appetit!

But non! That’s not all! You’ll be entertained by a live cabaret show while you enjoy your dessert, a macaron trio.
