A Time to Pause, Reflect & Recognize those who have Served

In observation of Veterans’ History Awareness Month in North Carolina, Lake Lure Classical Academy honors the staff members and family members of staff, who have served our country in the military, and who continue to serve the students and families of our community.

We are also especially proud of the way in which our students and staff honored Veterans this past week, that we wanted to share more information about that with you.

Enjoy the long weekend, remembering the enormous blessings and freedoms that we have because of the sacrifices of America's Military and its Veterans.

Together for Excellence,

Barbara Cohen, School Director

LLCA Students Create Thank You Cards for Veterans

Under the leadership of school counselors, Corrie Sias and Kristin Collette, K-8th grade students created thoughtful thank you cards for area Veterans.

"We were able to put these cards into the hands of hundreds of local Veterans," Ms. Sias said.

The cards were distributed to:

  • To LLCA Veterans attending the Veteran’s Day assembly
  • The Retreat at Gaffney, a South Carolina Assisted living facility for Veterans
  • Carolina Village, a Hendersonville, NC Assisted living facility, Veterans Day party
  • Guiding Reins, a Campobello, SC Equine-Assisted Wellness program for Veterans and First Responders

Special thanks to 8th grader Rachel Russell and teacher Nancy Sarrat for helping to distribute cards to the assisted living facilities.
