Through scenario planning, our goal is to develop a list of actions and projects for our purpose. Such threats that will be considered include: storms, drought, civil unrest, and pandemics. Labor Market Updates for Lake County

With the information given by our partners at Colorado Rural Workforce Consortium, we are eager to present updated information regarding the recent changes in the Lake County Labor Market and how many workers have become employed outside of Lake County. A phrase rom the below document by by Mark Hoblitzell reads:


"According to 2019 data from the US Census, just over 80% of Lake County workers were employed outside of the county with nearly 40% of those jobs located in Eagle or Summit counties. Chaffee County accounted for only 1.6% of jobs. (US Census On the Map, Lake County, All Jobs)"

Travel and commute are an unavoidable part of employment, but some industries have been shown higher percentages of commute time and distance for workers located in the Lake County region. Below is a table that shows the industries in the Lake County Region in contrast to total commute.

HB21-1264 Rural Reskilling, Upskilling,

and Next-skilling Workers Grant


The CWDC is excited to announce a new round of grant funding via HB21-1264 that is now available to eligible entities through a competitive application process. This round of reskilling, upskilling, and next-skilling grants will support rural organizations in facilitating training for unemployed and underemployed Coloradans to earn industry-recognized credentials. 

501(c)(3) community-based nonprofit organizations who have a partnership with local workforce centers in the Colorado Rural Workforce Consortium (with the exception of the Broomfield Workforce Center) are eligible for this grant opportunity. Applications are due by March 28, 2022. Multiple grants will be awarded, with a maximum individual award amount of $225,000.

CMC Leadville was born in 1967. In the years since then, we’ve grown and evolved to meet the needs of our community. As one of 11 CMC campuses throughout our mountain district, we’re providing classes for certificates, associate and bachelor’s degrees for high school, college and community member students. Spend an hour with us on a CMC campus tour and learn about a few of the exciting programs we offer, including ski area operations, geographic information mapping (GIS), welding and eco system science, as well as valuable services and amenities that are available to the community, including library and gym usage, classroom/meeting space, skiing/hiking/riding on our fabulous trail system and dining in the Coronado Café.
