IMPORTANT UPDATE!

Important message to PHA members:

Bright recently announced they are exiting the Colorado Market (and all other commercial markets across the United States) meaning that Peak Health Alliance won’t have a health insurance plan for 2023.  All current Peak-sponsored plans remain fully in effect and Bright HealthCare is responsible for fulfilling its obligations for the remainder of 2022. However, you will need to pick a new plan for 2023 coverage. Open enrollment begins November 1st. To ensure your new coverage begins on the first day of the new year, you must enroll before Dec. 15, 2022.

To learn more about Bright’s surprise decision and Peak Health Alliance plans, read our press release (pdf attached)

For more information you can call Liz Tabraj at Peak Health Alliance 970.455.0381 ext. 104

COMMUNITY RESILIANCY PILOT PROJECT

BETTER CITY CREATES A RESILIENCE PLAN FOR LAKE COUNTY

For those that haven't heard, Climax Molybdenum and Better City have chosen the LLCEDC as their Community Champion partner for their resiliency action plan project, which is geared to develop preventative measures towards community threats. These threats can include a variety of incidents, such as the Closure of the Climax mine which will inevitably result in decrease in job loss and property tax value.

Herald Democrat published an article to review the project and updates since its first steps, which can be viewed  HERE.

BR&E Updates

BUSINESS RETENTION AND EXPANSION (BR&E) COMMITTEE UPDATE

In the attempts to sustain and develop our local economy, we at the Leadville Lake County Economic Development Corporation have begun work to launch our Business Retention & Expansion (BR&E) Committee. This sub Committee will orient themselves around the scope of work needed to better identify the needs and setbacks of businesses in Lake County.

In May of 2022, the LLCEDC hired a contractor to lead the Committee, and since, the BR&E Committee has identified over 500 businesses to visit with the purpose of finding the challenges and struggles they are facing in today's economy. There have been upwards of 40 site visits to Lake County businesses since the Committee's start on June 15, 2022. Common issues that have been stated include long term staffing, inability to keep up with business growth, and lack of recognition/marketing issues.

Stay tuned for more updates as the Committee continues their important work.

Aligning The Marketing-Sales Process For Profit

During the pandemic, small business weaknesses were exposed. Many failed because they did not align their marketing and sales functions into an integrated process. By this I mean that marketing, the sales personnel and all of the company employees must work together in the areas of strategy, tools, and customer acquisition to maximize the business profit potential.

Your Sales and Marketing strategy is your plan for reaching, engaging, and converting target prospects into profitable customers. It’s the charter that guides Marketing and Sales in their daily activities, helping them clarify shared objectives and how to achieve them. Without a strategy, all your Marketing and Sales activities and tactics might be for nothing. After all, if they don’t all work in concert to drive pipeline and customer acquisition, what’s the point?

EMPLOYEE OWNERSHIP MONTH FROM OEDIT

A message from our partners at OEDIT:

October is Employee Ownership month, as Gov. Jared Polis signed a proclamation recognizing October as the official Employee Ownership Month in Colorado. Employee-owned businesses contribute a significant benefit to employees, business owners and our communities by promoting a higher quality of life for employee-owners including higher wages, lower turnover rate and access to better benefits. The business owner, on the other hand, benefits from a more engaged workforce, a guaranteed succession plan and a way to attract and retain top talent. If you know a business that may be interested in pursuing employee-ownership, the Employee Ownership Toolkit is a great resource to share, especially with a business owner who may be looking to retire but wants to ensure their business continues to be a source of good employment in the community.
