Litchfield Land Trust Earns National Recognition as an Accredited Land Trust!

One thing that unites us as a nation is land: Americans strongly support saving the open spaces they love. Since 1968, Litchfield Land Trust has been doing just that for the people of Litchfield. We are pleased to announce we have achieved national recognition – joining a network of over 450 accredited land trusts across the nation that have demonstrated their commitment to professional excellence and to maintaining the public’s trust in their work.

We provided extensive documentation and were subject to a comprehensive third-party evaluation. Informed from this process Litchfield Land Trust made substantive improvements in our structure, policies, procedures, and record keeping. The Land Trust Accreditation Commission’s accreditation award signifies its confidence that our land will be protected forever. Accredited land trusts steward almost 20 million acres in the United States. Litchfield Land Trust is proud of our efforts to strengthen our organization and grateful to join the ranks of accredited land trusts. We are particularly appreciative of our community of volunteers and supporters that enable us to protect our community forests and farmland.
