On November 30, 2023, LLVS Online Learners were able to visit the PA College of Health Sciences Campus for a College overview, a walking tour of the campus including a chance to see their on-campus simulation lab/mock hospital, and review of program information. It’s time to celebrate the holidays! On December 5, 2023 LLVS Online Learners attended the 2nd Annual Online Learner Gingerbread House Contest. Learners were tasked with creating a gingerbread house that best represented their favorite holiday movie. 1st, 2nd & 3rd place prizes were awarded in grade levels K-4 & 5-8.

Fizzics presents Light

and Color

(Grades 1-4)


So much science in this program! Investigate the visible light spectrum, including color addition and subtraction. Explore luminescent minerals and other objects using ultraviolet light. Find out why sunsets are red and learn about color and energy relationships. Make colored shadows and create hovering images. Learn about translucent, transparent and opaque materials. Operate zoetropes and flip books to create cartoons. Learn about refraction vs. reflection and how to make a telescope. Investigate optical fiber and its use in hi-speed broadband technology. Find out about your color vision; can you see all of the spectrum? Mix creative color-changing chemical concoctions, see illusions and more.

Constellations in the Winter Night Sky

(Grades 4-8)


The winter night sky has some of the most recognizable constellations, including Orion the hunter, Taurus the bull, and Gemini the twins. Once you’ve found Orion, you can easily navigate to the Pleiades star cluster, the Dog star Sirius, and many others. Join us as we learn about the stars and planets visible in the winter sky, and the science and history behind these objects.
