As city officials finalize budgets, the strong state revenue collections add certainty for the upcoming year.

Total local government property tax levies are proposed to increase 4.9%. The proposed increase for cities is 6.6%.

The annual report is due to the Minnesota Department of Revenue by Dec. 30.

City officials with knowledge of how fire regulations and code affect municipalities are encouraged to apply for the opening by Dec. 10.

The group will make recommendations to the Department of Labor and Industry on proposed legislation affecting building codes.
