Assessment Center 
Changes in English & math placement    

Recent changes to English and math pathways have prompted the Assessment Center to develop the new Multiple Measures Placement form, which can be filled out online through the Assessment Center web link. 

For those of you who received placements prior to the latest changes to English and math course sequencing, and are no longer certain what courses to take, you may want to  take a minute to fill out the new Multiple Measures Placement form and update your English and math placements.

Be assured that your current placements are still valid. The Multiple Measures Placement form is just the latest tool that you, as an LMC student, can use to make sure you're registering for the right courses.

Each semester, Transfer & Career Services arranges visits to a variety of transfer institutions, and for Spring 2017, we have some great schools lined up. We have plans to visit UC Davis; Sonoma State; University of Nevada, Reno; and tour the Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCU). It's Baseball, Softball and Basketball Season   
It may still feel like winter outside, but our LMC Baseball and Softball teams are gearing up to begin their spring seasons. And of course, both our Women's and Men's Basketball teams are steaming right along!!

Baseball kicks off with a season home opener on January 27 and Softball has an opening game on February 3.  We all know that baseball & softball are great American pastimes, so grab some peanuts and Cracker Jacks and root, root, root, for your fellow Mustangs!

Our basketball teams are doing well and have some home games coming up. The men have home games on Feb 1, 3 and 10, while the women will play onsite Feb 1 and 10. Join us to cheer 'em on to victory!

Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)

Did you know that to continue to receive Financial Aid in Spring 2017, you have to meet minimum academic and progress requirements during Fall 2016?

In accordance with the college's SAP Policy, Financial Aid will review academic standings and determine which students meet the requirements. Students will be notified in January 2016 via InSite email if they do not meet SAP requirements. For more information:

Loss of BOG Fee Waiver Eligibility 
Effective Fall 2016, students receiving the Board of Governors Fee Waiver (BOG) must meet minimum academic and progress standards. To be eligible for the program, students must:
  • Maintain a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of at least 2.0
  • Successfully complete at least 50% of all units attempted
If a student does not meet any combination of these standards for two consecutive semesters (Fall and Spring), the result will be BOGFW ineligibility. For more information:

BOG Fee Waiver Program Changes

Apply for 2017-2018 FAFSA Today!
2017-2018 FAFSA applications are now being accepted, and you are encouraged to apply prior to the March 2, 2017 priority deadline. Students need not wait for W2's or to file taxes because on the 2017-2018 FAFSA, students and parents will report 2015 tax information, not 2016 tax information.  
  
CAL Grant Requirements 
To be eligible for a 2017-2018 Cal Grant award, you must complete these requirements 
by March 2, 2017: 
Financial Aid General Workshop  
This workshop will provide all options to students pursuing higher education. We provide hands-on assistance for all aspects of the FAFSA application process.

Kennedy-King Memorial $5,000 Scholarship - Apply by February 3, 2017 
The Kennedy-King Memorial Scholarship Fund awards a number of two-year scholarships of $5,000 per year to students who transfer in the Fall 2017 or Spring 2018 from Contra Costa County community colleges to junior standing in four-year accredited institutions.

While student parking at the Brentwood Center is free, there are "No Parking" and "Employee Parking" zones in the adjacent lot and surrounding business areas that are strictly enforced.
