2017 Grads make history!
This year, Los Medanos College had a record number of graduates and it was inspiring to see the many graduates, family members, and friends who came out to celebrate academic success. 

Everyone at LMC wishes you a fond farewell and the best of luck as you continue on to the next exciting chapter of your lives!

Summer add and drop dates:  Keep in mind that, just as summer sessions are shorter than semesters, deadlines for adding and dropping summer classes are much earlier. Check your class schedule on WebAdvisor to see the drop dates for your classes.

STUDENT WELLNESS COUNSELING 

College students today are faced with many social, emotional, and academic challenges and Los Medanos College has partnered with JFK University's Community Counseling Centers to offer Wellness Counseling to all enrolled students at both the LMC Pittsburg and Brentwood locations.
 
The Wellness Program offers: 
  • Free, confidential individual and/or specialized group therapy conveniently located on campus
  • Safe and welcoming environment to share feelings
  • Warm and caring therapists*

FINANCIAL AID UPDATES

Students are advised to review their Financial Aid information in the InSite Portal for missing items and SAP eligibility. To submit documents at either the Pittsburg or Brentwood office, please view:

Summer Financial Aid disbursement
Students who are eligible for the summer Pell Grant will receive payments according to summer course unit enrollment and start dates. View the disbursement schedule for details.

You have 3 choices for receiving your Financial Aid disbursements:
  1. Electronic deposit to a bank account
  2. Cash card
  3. Check by mail

Board of Governors Fee Waiver Announcements
Have you applied for Summer and Fall 2017 and now have a balance? If so, you may want to apply for the 2017-2018 Board of Governors Fee Waiver (BOGW). The BOGW application can be submitted online or in person. Please click the link below to access Financial Aid forms and choose the online application or print the paper application.
 
Please note: If you have already completed, or are going to complete, a 2017-2018 FAFSA or Dream Act application, you do not need to complete a separate BOGW application. BOGW eligibility is determined by your FAFSA or Dream Act application.

SCHOLARSHIPS

Congratulations to all the hard working LMC students who received 2017-2018 scholarships! Now that you've been awarded, it's time to use those funds!

LMC Foundation Scholarship Recipients - Funds available after July 1 
Continuing Students:   Submit a copy of your class schedule via InSite Email to the Scholarship Coordinator, Tammy Oranje , or in person to the Financial Aid Office. 
 
Transfer Students: Submit your Fall 2017 Class Schedule and/or your Official Acceptance Letter via InSite Email to Scholarship Coordinator, Tammy Oranje, or in person to the Financial Aid Office. 

(Please note, recipients must meet the criteria outlined in their Scholarship Award Notification to be eligible for scholarship funds)

Outside Scholarship Recipients (organizations other than the LMC Foundation)
Once LMC receives your scholarship funds, a check for the full amount will be mailed to the address the college has on file for you. Awarded students must currently be enrolled and meeting the criteria outlined in the scholarship to receive funds.  For more information on accessing your scholarship funds visit: http://www.losmedanos.edu/scholarships/access.asp

BRENTWOOD CENTER NEWS

Parking Reminders  
Parking at the Brentwood Center is free, but note that there are restricted areas where students are not allowed to park. See the parking map for options. Remember, w e share the lot with other businesses, so please drive safely and watch for pedestrians. Also, protect your valuables by storing them out of site and locking your car. Questions about parking can be answered by Police Services, located at the entrance to the Brentwood Center, or by calling (925) 473-6919.

For information and Admissions & Records services, o ur friendly office staff is here to assist students in person or by phone Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m. - 7:00 p.m. (closed on Fridays during summer). For information or  assistance , stop by or call the office at (925) 513-1625.
 
Counseling Services
Academic Counseling is available throughout the Summer Session either by appointment or express drop-in. Please call ahead at (925) 473-7459, or stop by the office for the current drop-in hours and appointment availability. Appointments can also be scheduled on-line from the Counseling webpage from this link:  http://www.losmedanos.edu/counseling/

Wellness Counseling  is also available to students at both the LMC Pittsburg and Brentwood locations and will continue throughout the summer. Sometimes balancing academic, work, and family obligations can be stressful, so LMC has partnered with JFK University to offer Wellness Counseling sessions.  T o make an appointment at the Brentwood Center, call: 925) 473-7459, or email: WellnessLMC@email.4cd.edu.

Financial Aid
The Financial Aid Office at the Brentwood Center is open during Summer Session for drop-in hours* Monday and Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., and Monday through Thursday, 1:30 to 5:30 p.m.
(*Hours are subject to change, so please call ahead for the most current schedule at (925) 473-6917.)

Free WiFi!
LMC provides on-campus WiFi access to all enrolled students. To log in, use your InSite user name and password. Report any technical difficulties, including Computer Lab and printing issues, to the front office.

Police Services:  Lost & Found and Safety Escorts
Police Services, located at the front entrance to the Brentwood Center, is open at all times during the Center's regular business hours and maintains the lost & found inventory. If you are missing an item, please stop by or call (925) 473-6919. 

Police Services can also assist you in finding a classroom, answer parking questions, and provide an escort to your vehicle upon request.
