Streamlining our local specialist referral system!
As we know, referrals are an administrative burden. The Western Ontario Health Team (WOHT) and LMPCA are working to streamline the current referral system. The plan is to implement the Ocean eReferral platform at no cost to providers.

How to get involved?

Step 1: Join WOHT's co-design sessions as together we build a digital referral form to support eReferral uptake. This form will:

  • help set up more specialists on eReferral
  • be the standard referral form for an upcoming eFax feature, allowing all referrals to be sent through Ocean whether or not specialists are on Ocean
  • allow Ocean to house all referral forms instead of clinics having to do so.

Session dates:

  • Session 1: December 14, 2021 - 5:00-6:30 pm
  • purpose of referral, select referral form data items for consultant information, patient information, referring provider information, and start clinical information
  • Session 2: January 11, 2022 - 7:00-8:30 pm
  • continue selecting referral form data for clinical information data items

Participants will be reimbursed at standard WOHT rates.

COVID-19 - NEW from MLHU, Omicron variant, and more
MLHU strongly recommends limited social gatherings in December

Due to rising numbers of COVID-19 cases, including the Omicron variant, and the expected increase in ICU occupancy, MLHU released the following recommendations today:
  1. Everyone should limit indoor social gatherings in private dwellings to no more than 10 people. All attendees 12 years of age and older should be vaccinated.
  2. All unvaccinated individuals 12 years of age and older should avoid any non-essential indoor contact with individuals who are not part of their household.
  3. Where possible, individuals should work remotely.

These recommendations are effective immediately and will be reassessed in four weeks’ time. Read the entire letter of recommendation here.
