Increase in post-partum depression during the pandemic: Please remember to screen and discuss this with your pregnant and post-partum patient or parents of young infants at prenatal and post-partum/well-baby visits. Optometry service withdrawal of OHIP-insured exams on September 1: As mentioned in a previous email, London and Area Optometrists have stopped OHIP-insured exams including routine care for children 19 and under and seniors 65 and older. Read the letter from London and Area Optometrists here.

OHIP card renewal by February 2022: Ontario Residents now have until February 28, 2022 to renew expired health cards. If they have a driver's license, they can renew both together online. For in person renewals: Service Ontario offices are resuming regular hours -- list of locations are found here.

Reminder that as of October 1, 2021 there will be changes to the pandemic virtual codes and billing rules that will impact you.

Reinstitution of group FFS billing limits to non-enrolled patients.

Module 1: Putting prevention into practice for school-age children
- Describe up-to-date evidence-based preventive care recommendations for school-age children.
- Identify preventive care resources and patient information to use in clinical practice
- Provide appropriate screening and counselling for the school-age child.
- Discuss issues of consent and confidentiality, immunization strategies and pain reduction, and vaccine hesitancy.
Module 2: Implementing best evidence and practical solutions for adolescent health challenges
- Develop approaches to the reticent adolescent patient
- Describe up-to-date evidence-based preventive care recommendations for school-age children and adolescents.
- Identify preventive care resources and patient information to use in clinical practice.
- Screen for mental health issues, substance use and addictions and provide appropriate screening and counselling for the sexually active adolescents
ECHO Ontario Autism registration open
September 2021 to June 2022 - free online sessions. The ECHO Autism program is now registering pediatricians, family physicians and nurse practitioners for the dates above. This training helps to screen, diagnose, and manage children and youth with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). MOC credits awarded. Other health team members are welcome to attend sessions as observers.
