Dear LNC Families,

In an effort to control the volume of communications we send, this email includes several important pieces of information, so we ask that you read it carefully and in its entirety. Although this communication is not in regard to the Safe School Reopening, please be reminded that we will reach back out to our families next week with further information about that. In the meantime, you can visit our website to reference all School Reopening information.

STUDENT HANDBOOK / STAKEHOLDER EXPECTATION GUIDE / 1:WORLD FAQs
Each year, we update our Student Handbook , Stakeholder Expectation Guide and 1:World FAQs (applies to 5th-12th grades) to reflect any new or changed policies for the new school year. This year, we are providing all three important documents to you earlier than ever before to provide your family with more time to carefully review them. We urge you to read both the 2020-2021 Student Handbook and the Stakeholder Expectation Guide thoroughly as a family. If you have a student in grades 5th-12th, please also review the 1:World FAQs which cover important information that every parent and student needs to know about our school’s technology program.

Once you have read the documents, please click HERE to complete and submit a short, but required, parent form indicating you have read and accept the 2020-2021 Student Handbook , Stakeholder Expectation Guide and the 1:World FAQs (if applicable). By clicking submit, you are indicating you have read and agree to the terms of both the Student Handbook and Stakeholder Expectation Guide as well as the 1:World FAQs (grades 5th-12th). We must have this form returned from every family at LNC by Wednesday, August 12. If you have questions about this, please contact Sara Lay ([email protected]).

SCHOOLOGY TRAINING
Before school begins, we would like to give you an opportunity to receive training on our Learning Management System, Schoology. We know some of you are completely new to Schoology and need the basics. For these parents, we are recommending our Schoology Level 1 training, offered on Tuesday, July 21 at 6:00PM. For those parents who have previously used Schoology but want to better understand how to use it more efficiently and to its fullest capability, we are recommending our Schoology Level 2 training, offered on Thursday, July 23 at 6:00PM. Both trainings will be offered as webinars and will be recorded. If you can't join us live, you will have access to the webinar archive.

Please use this link to sign up. Once you sign up, a link to the webinar will be emailed to you. Please contact Jamie Lord ([email protected]) or Marianne Rogowski ([email protected]) with questions.

TECH CO-PAY (grades 5th-12th ONLY)
The 2020-2021 school year marks the 7th year of our 1:World technology program at LNC. Due to the unusual ending to the 2019-2020 school year, all rising 6th-8th and 10th-12th grade students are keeping their technology safe at home over the summer. Our 5th grade students will receive their iPads at the beginning of the 2020-2021 school year. Our 9th grade students will receive their laptops at Freshmen Kick Off this summer (more details about Freshmen Kick Off this later this week).

There is a $125 tech co-pay per student , payable between now and Tuesday, August 11 . Families should use the HS Tech Co-pay Link to pay for their HS student’s technology (9th-12th) and the MS Tech Co-pay Link to pay for their MS student’s technology. Please note that rising 9th grade students must pay the co-pay by Sunday, July 26 so that they can receive their laptop at Freshmen Kick Off. The Co-pay Pay Pal link is also on our website at www.lncharter.org . Again, here are the 2020-2021 1:World Technology FAQs .

FAMILY DIRECTORY
Lastly, during this time of social distancing and virtual engagements, our connection to each other is more important than ever. That is why, in conjunction with our PTO, LNC’s Engagement Committee is thrilled to introduce our first LNC Family Directory . This secure directory is an opt-in program and its information will only be available to LNC families. If you choose to participate, you will be able to find contact information for other LNC families. You can use the LNC Family Directory to find friends, organize get-togethers, carpool and more. You can find out who is in your neighborhood and who is involved in the same activities as your students.

To participate, click this link , create an account and enter as much information as you’d like. After your name and email address is verified, you can begin searching for new and returning families to connect with. You can also opt-out any time. (Please be patient while you are being “verified.” It will take a couple of weeks to get this directory off the ground and we want to take the needed time to be sure your information is secure.)

If you are interested, please sign up before August 1 so that new and returning families can find each other prior to the start of school. We believe this directory will help families find each other, make their own connections and ultimately strengthen our LNC community. We thank both the Engagement Committee and the PTO for their work in developing this resource for our families.
