Let's Do Lunch

LOA is pleased to announce that we sold 3028 tickets to our fundraiser for Meals on Wheels and Nutrition Programs, Let's Do Lunch. We are finalizing the numbers, paying the last few bills and getting the last of the raffle attempts in, but we are hopeful that we may have raised more than $80,000 again this year. Thanks to everyone for their support!

LOA to hold town hall meeting

The Local Office on Aging will hold a Town Hall Meeting for its Area Plan for Aging Services on Wednesday, July 24 at 10 a.m. in the Boardroom of its Central Office located at 4932 Frontage Road, NW, Roanoke.

The LOA will present its budget for the upcoming fiscal year as well as discuss any planned changes to its programs. Public input is encouraged and will be considered. The LOA Board of Directors and Advisory Council will meet following the conclusion of the town hall meeting.

LOA offers an A Matter of Balance program. The program offers workshops for managing falls and increasing activity levels. Anyone who is concerned about falls, interested in improving balance, flexibility, strength, or has fallen in the past, or has restricted activities because of falling concerns, age 60 or older would benefit from the program. This program emphasizes practical strategies to manage falls. Contact us to schedule a workshop or become involved in a workshop in your area.
