Thank you to our Sponsors and Partners

Silver Sponsor:

Salem Lions Club

Thank you to our Silver Sponsor, the Salem Host Lions Club! The Salem Lions support many local charities, and we are grateful that they have joined LOA to help fight senior hunger in our community.

Thank you to our partner, AARP Virginia! They have been a long-time partner with LOA on Soup for Seniors, generously donating the thousands of sturdy cloth bags that bring the soup to the seniors, and dozens of volunteers to help with the sorting, packing, and delivery of the soup!

Thank you to our media sponsor, FOX Radio 910, WFJX 910 AM & 104.3 FM, for running multiple ads on the local airwaves to spread the word about Soup for Seniors.

Thank you to the Community Foundation Serving Western Virginia

The LOA is honored to be the recipient of a $100,000 grant from the Community Foundation Serving Western Virginia which will provide critical care to more than 100 seniors in the Roanoke Valley. The grant is from the Marion S. and Willie Z. Camp Fund for Eldercare. LOA's Critical Needs Programs include Homemaker, in-home care for the home such as mopping, laundry and dusting, and Vital Transportation, curb to cub rides to the doctor, pharmacy and grocery store. These programs provide a direct service to the senior to help them with their critical needs while also providing respite to their caregivers.

Transportation: Extended Hours

Exciting news! Starting February 4, LOA is extending our transportation services hours! Qualifying seniors can now use the service until 6 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Reminder: Transportation will also remain available Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Seniors, if you are not already using this service, call us today to see if you qualify and schedule your afternoon ride to the doctor, pharmacy, or grocery store: (540) 345-0451

Bring a smile to a senior's face

Visiting a senior to deliver Meals on Wheels brings so much joy - the homebound seniors who receive that daily lunch often do not have much social contact with others. Your smiling face can make a difference!

You could even sign up to be a substitute driver on an as-needed basis! LOA has 9 sites across our area that deliver Meals on Wheels, and we are happy to work with you and your schedule for any site or dates that are convenient for you.

If you already volunteer, thank you! Please share this information with others who may be interested in helping seniors.
