Volunteers deliver Thanksgiving goodness
On the Wednesday before Thanksgiving Meals on Wheels volunteers delivered nearly 600 special Thanksgiving meals and a bouquet of flowers to our recipients. We are thankful for all these wonderful volunteers for helping us deliver some holiday cheer!
Volunteers honored
Close to 300 Meals on Wheels volunteers came out to North Roanoke Baptist Church on November 1 to be honored for their time. We are so appreciative of all they do to help our agency and serve the seniors in our community!
MEALS ON WHEELS AMERICA NAMED NATIONAL PARTNER OF SUBARU SHARE THE LOVE® EVENT FOR ELEVENTH CONSECUTIVE YEAR

Subaru of America, Inc. announced the return of its annual Share the Love event in 2018. Eleven years running, this year's Share the Love event marks the third consecutive year there will be no cap placed on the total donation from Subaru of America to its Share the Love charitable partners. At the culmination of this year, Subaru hopes to exceed a grand total of $140 million donated since Share the Love event started in 2007.
Meals on Wheels receives Kiwanis grant
Michele Daley , LOA Director of Nutrition Programs, accepted an $8,000 grant from the Kiwanis Club of Roanoke Virginia for Meals on Wheels. Thank you to LOA Board member Don Wilson for presenting the check and for the continued support of our seniors from the Kiwanis!
A Matter of Balance workshop has special guests
Two Physical Therapists were our special guests at the A Matter of Balance workshop in Fincastle last month. Everyone in attendance learned a lot about fall prevention from their expertise!
How else can you help?
LOA was recently approved to receive an allocation of $15,000 for the Neighborhood Assistance Partnership through the Commonwealth of Virginia. An individual who makes a donation of at least $500 to LOA with no restrictions can claim up to 65% of their donation as a tax credit on their Virginia taxes. Donations may be cash, stock, merchandise, marketable securities or real estate.
