Thanksgiving Meals on Wheels

All of LOA's Meals on Wheels clients received a special Thanksgiving meal complete with fresh flowers the day before Thanksgiving. This is an annual treat we provide every year for this special group of homebound seniors!

Letters of love

We're so thankful for Branch Gives! Employees of the Branch Group teamed up to write nearly 240 letters of love for our seniors on Meals on Wheels. We greatly appreciate all the employees who took time out of their day to let a senior know they are thought of! A lot of spirits were lifted with these notes!

Lunch and Learn LOA's Botetourt Diners Club enjoyed a special Lunch and Learn to celebrate Thanksgiving and to discuss ways in which they are thankful.

The LOA is very thankful to have been one of the beneficiaries of the Giving Back Society's 2020 fundraising events. The group donated $8,000 to our organization. This donation will be used to continue out emergency efforts for Covid19 relief. Covenant Presbyterian Church made a very thoughtful $5,000 donation to Meals on Wheels in honor of our very own Barbara Clayborne. Barbara is the site supervisor for our Southwest Meals on Wheels site and is very much loved by her volunteers!

Thank you to our volunteers! We are sad that we could not honor our WONDERFUL Meals-on-Wheels and Senior Food Box Volunteers at our annual luncheon this year. However, we are happy to be able to give out gift packets to them throughout the month of November to show how much they mean to LOA and our clients. The packets include an LOA mask and lanyard, LOA hand sanitizer, gift card and a poem written by one of our Meals-on-Wheels Supervisors, Marye Brooks. This is the least we could do for our dedicated (many have continued serving since the beginning of COVID-19) and caring volunteers who deliver meals/food boxes, smiles and so much more to seniors in need.

Alzheimer's: LOA4Hope The Alzheimer's Association was unable to host its walk in the traditional way this year. So, the LOA4Hope team took to the streets to show its support of the important work this organization does for those with Alzheimer's Disease. This group of LOA staff walked a mile down Peter's Creek road with their hand-made signs!

Loudon Avenue drive thru Because LOA's Loudon Avenue Diners Club group is still unable to meet, the church hosted another drive thru meal opportunity for them! Thank you to Servant Leader, Eva Hughes, Faith in Action Ministry & Sisterhood and Loudon Avenue Christian Church for sponsoring and hosting this Drive-thru for our Downtown Diner's Club. This means so much to our seniors!
