VICAP Medicare Advantage
Open Enrollment
LOA's VICAP volunteers are ready for Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment, which is running from Janaury to March. If you have questions about your Medicare Advantage plans, need to switch plans, look at your Part D Prescription Plan, or switch back to original Medicare, please contact us to set up an appointment.

LOA is continuing its efforts to educate the community of seniors and those soon to retire by providing free persentations, in person or virtually. If you would like to set up a presentation concerning retirement, SSA, Medicare and more, please reach out to us so we can provide you with the most up to date and critical information.
We are continuing a segment to highlight some of LOA’s services along with the impact it has in our community and the lives of our seniors. Most people think of LOA as Meals on Wheels; however, it takes other of LOA’s wrap around services to enable seniors to remain in their homes for as long as possible.

This month we are highlighting two of LOA’s Transportation Programs:
  • Vital Services Transportation provides rides to vital services such as doctor appointments, pharmacy, grocery shopping, etc.
  • Assisted Transportation Provided to seniors 60 and older who need to be accompanied by someone to medical appointments. A CNA will assist the person to the vehicle, drive them to the appointment and drive them home. The CNA will see that the person gets back into his/her home safely.

LOA Center for Health & Wellness:
Take a look out the progress! We are excited to say that things are moving quickly next door. It’s taking shape as most of the demolition has been completed, restrooms and the kitchen have been roughed in. We’ve selected the finishes and are ordering equipment & furniture. Springtime is going to be an exciting time at LOA as we move to the next level of promoting and providing opportunities for healthy aging which will allow seniors to age in place.

We love our volunteers!
February is the month that we hear a lot about “Love” and to give a shout out to LOA’s 450+ volunteers. We love you and all that you do each week to help seniors in our region. Delivering Meals, Senior Food Boxes, and pet food. Of course, next week will see volunteers rallying around LOA’s Soup for Seniors drive. Then we have our insurance counselors, fall prevention volunteer instructors and others filling in wherever they’re needed. And let’s not forget our Board of Directors and Advisory Council Members. We want our volunteers to know that we couldn’t do it without them and in fact they are the ones that make it happen. LOA loves our volunteers!
