Flood Watch

The Ministry of Natural Resources (MNR) is advising residents that a Flood Warning is in effect for the area until Wednesday, April 22, 2026.

Residents should expect lake water levels to continue to rise and river flows to remain high throughout the week of April 13-17 and into the weekend of April 18-19.

Runoff into local lakes and rivers is expected to increase due to recent rainfall, with additional forecasted precipitation and warming temperatures contributing to higher lake water levels and river flows.

For more information, please read the full Flood Warning.

You can view live lake levels for Lake of Bays updated hourly, on the Muskoka GeoHub, Floodline and Lidar page. The hydrograph tab (see image below) shows the current level compared to operating zones with 20 years of historical data.

Go to the Muskoka GeoHub.

Muskoka Municipal Election

October 26, 2026

Municipal government decisions affect your life directly. Municipalities are responsible for land-use planning and building permits, by-laws and their enforcement, roads, fire services, waste management, libraries, parks, economic development and much more.

Monday October 26, 2026, is Municipal Elections Day in Ontario. Once again for the 2026 Municipal Elections, you will be able to vote by internet and telephone for approximately ten days leading up to Election Day. That means if you are a seasonal resident, you do not need to make a special trip to the cottage to vote. And it makes voting easy for permanent residents as well.

LOBA will be keeping you informed about the issues and the candidates throughout the months ahead. In the meantime, you can confirm you are on the Voters List here.

And if you are considering running for Council, check out this workshop.

Talking Circle in Bracebridge

What changes are you noticing across the land in and around the Muskoka region?

Those who live, work, and spend time on the land are often the first to notice changes in wildlife, wetlands, and forests. By sharing these observations, we can better understand what’s happening across the landscape and support meaningful, community-based conservation.

Join The Land Between for a Talking Circle, an Indigenous tradition rooted in respect, listening, and shared knowledge, to come together around local nature and wildlife challenges and solutions.
