This American Song: Wisconsin
LOLA Board President Lynn Richie represented Wisconsin
On June 21, Make Music Day, an initiative called This American Song debuted. Each state nominated a person to be paired with a professional song writer to tell their story in a song. The songwriter interviewed the state representative via video chat for an hour, then wrote a song that they performed for that person in the evening on the same day. Board President Lynn Richie was chosen to represent Wisconsin. Click here to hear the song written about her!

As summer has come to an end, so has our Car Park Concert Summer Music Series. This free music series started in July and featured nine musicians of various genres. These artists played Cajun, country, folk, rock and more. Some traveled from the U.P. of Michigan, Minnesota, and from other areas in Wisconsin. Learn more about the 2020 lineup here.

Originally held on the LOLA porch, we relocated this year's music series to the Snowflake Building located behind the Land O' Lakes Town Hall. This allowed listeners to have the choice to stay parked in their cars to listen to the music, bring a chair inside to social distance, or lay a blanket down in the lawn.

It was wonderful being able to provide live music that could bring the community together safely on Thursday nights. We saw families come with dinner, and we saw some even bring their dogs. In total we had an attendance of 519 for the nine-week music series.

Join us next year at the Snowflake for another great summer music lineup!

We want your feedback! If you have any comments or suggestions on the summer music series, please email us at [email protected]
