The Season is Upon Us!
Hello Racers!  The Susan Hood Trophy Race opens the LOOR racing calendar and it's just three weeks away.  The LOSHRS course race follows closely.  Both are excellent ways to get (back) into a new year of offshore racing in a friendly and competitive way.  The number of competitors this year is high and registration is still open.  If you haven't already done so you'll find links to get registered in this newsletter or on

LOOR is pleased to welcome back as title sponsor for the Susan Hood Trophy Race and the Lake Ontario 300/600.  We also are very happy to grow our relationship with other current sponsors North Sails, Evolution Sails and Access Abilities.  Please see below for all the details.
If you are new to any of our events and you have questions please reach out to us at or contact your club LOOR ambassador.  We'll help get you to the start line; the sailing is you!

See you on the start line soon.

Evolution Sails and Access Abilities Team Up for LOSHRS:

Following the sudden, unexpected passing of longtime LOSHRS supporter Brian Chapman in January, Lake Ontario Offshore Racing is proud to welcome Evolution Sails and Access Abilities as co-sponsors for the annual LOSHRS Sail Giveaway for the 2018 series.
Greg Bratkiw (Evolution) is a lifelong Toronto sailor and has always been a great supporter of LOOR plus many other racing events.  His team at the loft will help fill this void in our season, by providing the (up to) $5,000 Evolution sail giveaway during our draw at Dalhousie YC dinner on Saturday September 15, 2018.  We thank Greg very much for his support and look forward to working with him throughout the year.
In addition, longtime LOSHRS competitor David Courtney (Access Abilities), has offered to share in the expenses with Evolution Sails.  We thank David for his support and commitment as well.
With Evolution / Access Abilities sponsoring the sail giveaway, and UCCI / UCCSC sponsoring the parties, the LOOR committee is looking to make 2018 the best year ever in the Lake Ontario Short Handed Racing Series.
Broadreach Jilàsi for Youth Regatta: September 22, 2018.

Broad Reach Foundation is proud to present the inaugural Jilàsi for Youth Regatta at National Yacht Club.  Activities and prizes on shore will follow the pursuit race.  Details on both the race and Broadreach's community activities can be found on the Broadreach website.
