LOOR 2025 Coastal Personal Survival Training Requirements, Ontario Sailing Fall Course Offerings, and other Safety Items.

2025 will be the second season where there is a training requirement for LOOR OSR Category 3 races, the LO300, Susan Hood Trophy Race (SHTR), LOSHRS Race 4 (AKA 100 miler, Long Distance). While the course is not required for the LOSHRS day races, LOOR OSR Category 4, is highly recommended.

The LOOR training requirement for 2025 for OSR Category 3 races will stay at 15% of the total crew with the addition that the Person-in-Charge must meet the training requirements. The intent for 2026 is to raise to 30% of total crew, the number in the Sail Canada Prescription for OSR Category 3.

If you haven’t taken the course and will need it for either 2025 or 2026, there are still open seats in Ontario Sailing’s three fall one-day Coastal Personal Survival Courses.
