TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 25

Depart Philadelphia or your home city this morning for Los Angeles. Upon arrival, transfer to the LOS ANGELES ATHLETIC CLUB HOTEL, located in downtown LA, an area where exciting development has taken place in recent years. It is within walking distance of many of the places on our itinerary. We will have an opportunity for a brief afternoon walk followed by an early included dinner in the neighborhood. (D)
WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 26

Our tour this morning will include a look at some of the stunning post-modern skyscrapers

in downtown LA. We also will visit
OLIVERA STREET
, the city's historic district and the Spanish Mission style
UNION STATION
built in 1939. We will see some of the iconic landmarks of Hollywood such as the
WALK OF FAME, GRAUMAN'S CHINESE THEATER
and the
ROOSEVELT HOTEL.
Lunch is included before our tour at the
FREDERICK R. WEISMAN ART FOUNDATION
, a spectacular venue for modern art. Suggestions will be provided for dinner this evening

THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 27

Our walking tour this morning includes such historic buildings as the BRADBURY BUILDING, the BILTMORE HOTEL, the art-deco EDISON BUILDING and the LOS ANGELES CENTRAL LIBRARY. Lunch is on your own at LA's GRAND CENTRAL MARKET.
This afternoon we will see

and Frank Gehry's masterpiece, the WALT DISNEY CONCERT HALL A highlight of the afternoon is a private tour at THE BROAD, the recently opened museum housing the extensive contemporary collection of Eli and Edythe Broad. Dinner is on your own and suggestions will be provided.
OPTION: EVENING PROGRAM OF MUSIC BY IVES AND DVORAK AT THE WALT DISNEY MUSIC CENTER, GUSTAVO DUDAMEL CONDUCTING.

FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 28
-This morning we visit the GETTY CENTER, the fabulous art complex designed by architect Richard Meier. We will take a train up the mountainside to the museum where we will have the opportunity to take an architectural tour and see the vast art collection of billionaire John Paul Getty. The adjacent gardens, designed by Robert Irwin, provide splendid views of Los Angeles. The balance of the day is free for exploring on your own or perhaps a visit to LOS ANGELES COUNTY MUSEUM OF ART (LACMA) or the nearby LA BREA TAR PITS. You might want to enjoy dinner this evening at a trendy WEST HOLLYWOOD eatery or CHINATOWN which is closer to our hotel. (B)
SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 29

Depart this morning for PASADENA, where we begin with a short tour of the City's beautiful

Doorway to the GAMBLE HOUSE designed by Charles and Henry Greene

residential architecture. Visit the GAMBLE HOUSE, the Craftsman-style bungalow designed in 1908 by Charles and Henry Greene. Then spend a relaxing afternoon in the San Gabriel Valley at THE HUNTINGTON: LIBRARY, ART MUSEUM AND BOTANICAL GARDENS, with lunch on your own on the grounds. A GUTENBERG BIBLE and Thomas Gainsborough's masterpiece THE BLUE BOY are among the treasures we will find at the former home of railroad magnate Henry Huntington. Our last stop is the NORTON SIMON MUSEUM, one of America's greatest collections of European, East Indian and Southeast Asian art. Dinner is included this evening in PASADENA. (B, D)
SUNDAY, MARCH 1

Travel to MALIBU and visit the fabulous GETTY VILLA dedicated to Greek, Roman and Etruscan arts and culture. Lunch is on your own in their café. Our final afternoon will include a tour of landmarks in SANTA MONICA and VENICE and a final dinner overlooking the Pacific Ocean. (B, D)

- Depart this morning for your home city or join us for an optional visit to SAN DIEGO. Additional nights at the LOS ANGELES ATHLETIC CLUB either before or after our tour are available upon request.
