Early Relational Health Series

National expert and OPS member RJ Gillespie, MD, MHPE (Portland) will be leading a monthly Promoting Early Relational Health: A Trauma-Informed Learning Community this fall for child and adolescent medical and behavioral health providers. Presented by OPS and the Children's Health Foundation.

This four-session webinar series will be solution-focused and practice-based with clinician actions for improving social-emotional health during patient visits, and ways to overcome barriers. Since each session builds upon the last, we encourage participants to attend the entire series.


Topics and interventions include:

  • Reducing sources of stress in areas such as peripartum mood disorders, social drivers of health, and caregiver trauma.
  • Promoting supportive relationships and positive childhood experiences.
  • Building core life skills: an overview of positive parenting and changing anticipatory guidance.
  • Responding to disclosures of trauma.

Suicide Prevention Skills Booster Trainings


OPS is offering 1.5-hour virtual CME* training sessions that focus on suicide assessment, intervention, and safety planning. The trainings include overviews of concepts, tools, and office workflows; large-group case-based learning; and peer sharing and questions.

Social Media & Youth Mental Health ECHO

Interested in how to support youth and families with navigating digital media and youth mental health during patient visits? 


Bi-Weekly Wednesdays

Starting August 6 - October

11:00 am - 12:00 pm PT

This five-session learning collaborative will equip pediatricians, primary care providers, and youth-serving clinicians with the knowledge, resources, and strategies to address the impact of social media on youth mental health. Participants will explore key topics including recognizing the role of quality content, navigating family conversations, communicating effectively with youth and families, prevention and screening approaches, and resources. 

Anxiety and Depression ECHO

This 3-month AAP ECHO project aims to build the capacity of primary care providers to provide quality behavioral and mental health care within the medical home setting, with a focus on anxiety and depression.

Communicating About Vaccines ECHO

This is a special opportunity to engage directly with nationally recognized vaccine experts and receive real-time coaching using the most up-to-date vaccine communication strategies available.

Join the AAP Vaccine Communication ECHO and strengthen your vaccine communication skills! This no-cost, virtual learning collaborative is designed for pediatric providers and clinical teams. Through three 90-minute sessions, participants will:

  • Learn how to respond to vaccine misinformation and hesitancy with empathy and accuracy.
  • Practice communication strategies with direct feedback from expert faculty.
  • Gain tools to address vaccine questions in the context of evolving public health guidance.
  • Connect and problem-solve with pediatric colleagues across the country.

Gun Violence Prevention Advocacy

During this six-session bi-weekly course, participants will learn communication strategies, advocacy tools, and messaging skills to support federal funding for firearm injury prevention research.

This ECHO project from the AAP focuses on media and advocacy strategies related to gun violence prevention and comes on the heels of a new published report from the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health, which found that “about 27,300 gun-related deaths – 58% of all gun deaths – were suicides in 2023.” This means “gun-related suicides in the U.S. reached record highs for the third straight year.”


This learning collaborative is open to medical, public health, research, community partners, and others interested in this work.

Child Maltreatment for Medical Providers
