Our goal is to keep you updated on all of the latest results for league & tournament games which our teams take part in, Team news & important dates to put in your calendar from our club and also our teams success and progress throughout the season from the people who make it all possible for our children!.

This news letter will provide you with information on our Sparks program, Youth Development Program(YDP), Recreational teams, competitive teams. Pictures of our teams in action, upcoming events much more.

YOUTH DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

Results...

Well done to the U9 City Park Girls Red team who played 3 games and finished with 2 wins (3-1 & 4-1) and 1 loss (0-3).

The U9 City Park Girls white team finished unbeaten with scorelines of 0-0, 3-2,6-0.

U9 City Park also finished unbeaten with result scorelines of 4-1, 2-0 & 1-0.

Well done to Coach Jesse Jarrett and his U 10 City Park girls on winning The Soccerfest Tournament on Penalty Kicks.. Great job girls!!!

Congratulations to Coach Dubuisson and his U9 YDP Metairie girls on finishing top of their round robin group in the Red Stick tournament in Baton Rouge this month! Awesome job girls!!

Coach Dubuissons team also took part in Soccerfest and again finished top of the U9 Division!!

Congratulations to Coach Dan Tadros and his U10 Metairie Campus boys on winning the Soccerfest Silver Division!.

On the way to reaching the championship game, the team defeated Plantation Athletic Club (PAC -Rovers) 3-2, defeated Amazons 5-3 (after being down at half 3-1) and tied PAC-Chrystal Palace 1-1. In the final game they defeated their Brother team from MP, YDP Fuentes, 2-0.

Coach Dan Tadros - ''I am seeing more and more good individual play within the team framework. The team is much more organized and keeping their shape while gaining confidence with each and every game''.

Congratulations to Coach Steven Paiz and his U10 YDP Metairie Campus girls team who got to the final of the silver division.. Great work ladies!!.

Congratulations to the U10 Metairie Campus team who got to the final of the Boys silver division... Very organized team by the looks of the photo don't you think?.

We would like to congratulate ALL of our YDP teams for taking part, we hope everybody had an awesome weekend of soccer!!

If you took part in a tournament and did not progress, we would still love for you to send us a team picture so we can put this in our newsletter every month. U17 Boys compete in Prestigious Jefferson Cup

CFJLA 17 Navy traveled to Richmond, VA to compete in the prestigious Jefferson Cup on March 8th thru 10th. The Jefferson Cup is known around the country to be one of the top recruiting tools for college coaches from across the Country. This year, the tournament boasts having over 200 registered coaches for the event with teams traveling from all over the country to participate.

Our 17 Navy team showed extremely well finishing with a 1-1-1 record against some very impressive competition. In Friday's match, we took on the Charlotte SA 95 Predators from North Carolina. It was a spirited 1st match with our boys striking early in the 2nd half off a scrappy corner kick sequence with center back Beau LaMaire striking from about 8 yards out to take the lead. With the game all but won, in extra time, our boys gave away a foul about 30 yards out giving the Predators a chance to equalize. To their credit, a laser was shot into the top corner to draw level with the last kick of the game. Our

boys were very unfortunate to drop the points but a draw to start the match was a very good result.

The second match put us against the Ohio Elite Academy, currently ranked #1 in Ohio South. Again, our boys performed superbly, peppering the goal throughout the match but unfortunately, as games go, a couple mistakes led to is dropping the match 2-0. We were very unlucky to drop points but still very pleased with the play. Our

record dropped to 0-1-1.

The final match put us against the LTSC Union Showcase team from Illinois. In our best showing of the weekend, we completely dominated and ended up winning 2-0 with goals being scored by Andrew Malinich and Nestor Penalta. It was an excellent end to a great 3 days of play.

The 17 Navy boys had a great "showcase". The level of play was extremely competitive and there was a definite "buzz" about the team representing the Louisiana Fire Soccer Club. Fantastic achievement guys!!.

Recreational and YDP Summer Program 2013

The Louisiana Fire Soccer Club has highlighted a need for our players to

continue their soccer education during the summer months. The Recreational & YDP

season currently ends in April and begins again in September. This means our

players do not have the opportunity to continue improving their skills, on a consistent basis, for several months. In order for our players to reach the highest

levels of play they need to continue developing their technical and tactical abilities

during these months and this is why we are introducing the Recreational and YDP

Summer Program.

Age Groups

Recreational Teams -

 U4 (3 and 4 year olds) - Sparks!!

 U6 (5 and 6 year olds)

 U8 (7 and 8 year olds)

 U10-U12 (9-12 year olds)

The Recreational program is based around giving young player ages 4-8 years their first steps into soccer in a friendly and educational environment. If you have a son,daughter, niece, nephew, cousin or grandchild who may be interested in playing soccer at the Recreational level then why not contact our Recreational program age group director who would be happy to help you out!

YDP & RECREATION SUMMER LEAGUE 2013!

Recreational and YDP Summer Program 2013

The Louisiana Fire Soccer Club has highlighted a need for our players to continue their soccer education during the summer months. The Recreational & YDP season currently ends in April and begins again in September. This means our players do not have the opportunity to continue improving their skills, on a consistent basis, for several months. In order for our players to reach the highest levels of play they need to continue developing their technical and tactical abilities during these months and this is why we are introducing the Recreational and YDP Summer Program.

Age Groups

Recreational Teams -

U4 (3 and 4 year olds) - Sparks!!

U6 (5 and 6 year olds)

U8 (7 and 8 year olds)

U10-U12 (9-12 year olds)

YDP Teams -

U10 (8, 9 and 10 year olds)

U12 (11 and 12 year olds)

Start Date

Recreational & YDP Teams - The season will be six weeks long. The season will begin during the week of June 10th. The first weekend of games will be on Saturday, June 15th. The last weekend of games will take place on July 20th.

Practice and Games

Recreational & YDP Teams - The league will consist of six weeks of play. Teams will practice once a week (Tuesdays or Wednesdays) and play one game on the weekends (Friday nights or Saturdays). All three campuses will be used for training and games (Metairie Campus - Lions and Lafreniere Park, City Park and Audubon Park). Parents can choose the campus where they would like to participate.

Team Formation

Recreational Teams - During registration parents will choose the campus where they would like to participate (Metairie Campus, City Park Campus or Audubon Campus). Once registration has closed the Age Group Directors for each campus will form balanced teams. It is club policy to have balanced teams to ensure that we have a competitive game schedule.

YDP Teams-

During registration parents will choose the campus where they would like to participate. Once registration has closed the YDP staff will form balanced teams. It is club policy to have balanced teams to ensure that we have a competitive game schedule.

Coaches

Recreational Teams - All teams will have a volunteer Head Coach and Assistant Coach. These coaches will be under the supervision of the Age Group Director and the Directors of Coaching of the Club. Volunteer coaches will receive coaching clinics throughout the season. All volunteer coaches will be asked to become certified coaches through the Louisiana Soccer Association and the USSF (United States Soccer Federation). Coaching education certification expense will be picked up by the club.

YDP Teams- All teams will be assigned a professional coach from the Louisiana Fire Soccer Club. These coaches will be under the supervision of the YDP Director and the Directors of Coaching of the Club.

Registration

Recreational and YDP Teams - Online Registration (www.chicagofirejuniorslouisiana.com) will open April 10th and it will close on June 1st. Anyone registering after June 1st will be put on a waiting list.

Uniforms

Recreational Teams - All players will receive two game day shirts (grey and blue). All players will be asked to wear red shorts and socks (of their own) on game day.

YDP Teams - All players will receive two shirts (grey and blue). Grey shirt will be used as practice and alternative game day shirt. Blue shirt will be used as game shirt. All players will be asked to wear navy shorts and socks (of their own) for training and on game day.

Sparks

The "Sparks" program is for three and four year old boys and girls. The program is designed to introduce/prepare the player with the basics of the game before they enter the next level (U6 soccer).

The cost is $75. All sparks will receive a Sparks T-Shirt.

The program will be gender specific if the numbers allow or co-ed.

Players will train and play games once a week for an hour with parent coach and with guidance from professional staff coach.

Metairie Sparks will train/play games on Tuesdays 5:30 pm.

City Park and Audubon Park will train/play games on Saturday mornings 9:00 am.

NOTE: The Recreational and YDP Summer Program is open to ANY boy or girl interested in playing soccer during the summer months.
You do not have to be a part of the Louisiana Fire Soccer Club to participate.

U.S. WNT Wins Algarve Cup 2013!!!

The U.S. Women's National Team won the Algarve Cup for the ninth time after Alex Morgan's two goals earned a 2-0 victory against Germany in Faro, Portugal. The U.S. forward scored twice in the first half and head coach Tom Sermanni's team put in a comprehensive performance to defeat the second-ranked team in the world.
