Reminder: School Schedule Modified on April 15

ACT and PreACT testing to impact daily schedule.

The ACT with writing is scheduled for the junior Class of 2027 on Wednesday, April 15. This early release day is a non-attendance day for most seniors, except those who are required to test in order to graduate. Additionally, the PreACT 9 will be administered to freshmen and PreACT 10 to sophomores at East Campus.

Students are reminded to check Launchpad for their assigned testing room location. Following the completion of testing, the school day will conclude and the District will run bus routes at that time.

Business Careers Spotlight: April 16

Lake Park’s Career & College Center encourages junior and senior Lancers interested in business careers to attend the Business Careers Spotlight on Thursday, April 16, hosted in the West Campus auditorium during 2nd and 3rd period. This event will feature a panel-style discussion with each presenter during 2nd period, while 3rd period will provide time to network, talk to the professionals about their programs/ job/ apprenticeships, etc. 

The list of distinguished presenters includes:

• Jay Rosati, Head of Career Development, Rosati's Pizza
• Anthony Ola, owner and entrepreneur, Catch Life Dojo

Health Careers Spotlight: April 16

Students are invited to attend the College of DuPage, Health Careers Spotlight, an engaging event designed for students to learn more about the wide range of opportunities available in healthcare.

Event Details

Date: Thursday, April 16 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.

Location: College of DuPage – Health Science Center (HSC) 425 Fawell Blvd., Glen Ellyn

During this event, students will:

• Explore a variety of healthcare career pathways
• Meet faculty and industry professionals
• Participate in hands-on activities and demonstrations
• Learn about education and training programs that lead to in-demand healthcare careers

This is a great opportunity for students who are curious about fields such as nursing, medical imaging, emergency services, and many other healthcare professions. Students will gain valuable insight into potential career paths and the steps needed to pursue them.

Film Appreciation Society

Community film buffs invited to join the final free screening on April 15.

Lake Park High School's Film Appreciation Society announces its "Buddy Comedy" selection for the season: Some Like It Hot. The free event will be held on Wednesday, April 15, at 6:00 p.m. in the West Campus auditorium. Run time for the film is 2 hours, 1 minute.

The iconic 1959 screwball comedy stars Tony Curtis, Jack Lemmon, and Marilyn Monroe. Billy Wilder directs and also has a writing credit. Curtis (starring as sax-playing Joe) and Lemmon (starring as bassist Jerry) are musicians who are at the wrong place at the wrong time and witness a mob hit. Now they must skedaddle and go incognito to avoid being rubbed out. Since the only gig they can find is an all-girl band headed to Florida, they transform into Josephine and Daphne and connect with Sugar Kane Kowalczyk (portrayed by Monroe). As they say, hijinks ensue. The chemistry shared by the actors, as well as the deft writing and spot-on casting place this film at #22 on the American Film Institute 100 Greatest American Films of All Time.

Community film buffs are invited to attend the cinematic presentation and stay for an in-depth panel discussion regarding the background and history of the featured film. Patrons will also be able to preview and vote for the film selection for the next Film Appreciation Society presentation in September, kicking off the 2026-2027 school year. Also, the winner of the 2nd Annual Oscar Contest will be announced.

The Lake Park Film Appreciation Society aims to engage the community in the presentation, exploration, interpretation, and critical discussion of classic cinema.

International Exchange

Nine staff members traveled to Hamburg, Germany in partnership program.

During spring break, nine staff members from Lake Park traveled to Hamburg, Germany to celebrate 30 years of partnership with Helene Lange Gymnasium (HLG). Highlights of the trip included visiting classes and coteaching at HLG, a harbor boat tour, a day trip to Lübeck, and a tour and reception at the Hamburg town hall. Staff members lived with HLG teachers for the week, and those teachers will complete the exchange when they visit Lake Park in May.

The Friday, April 24 edition of the LP Link will share highlights from the "Global Citizens Travel" spring break trip to Italy with 46 students and 8 chaperones.

Spring Musical Takes Center Stage

Season concludes with a musical adaption of Mean Girls.

The Lake Park Music and Theatre Departments are excited to announce the spring musical, Mean Girls - High School Edition, directed by Sara Keith with vocal director Sam Baker and music director Mike Lehman. The show opens on Thursday, April 23 and runs through Saturday, April 25. Shows begin at 7:00 p.m. each night, with an added 2:00 p.m. matinee on Saturday (followed by the final evening performance at 7:00 p.m.). Mean Girls - High School Edition is appropriate for ages 13 and up (mature themes, language) and runs approximately 2 hours with one intermission.

All performances will be held at the Lake Park East Campus Dice Auditorium. General Admission is $5 for ages 13-64, with complimentary admission for senior citizens and Lake Park students with ID. Seating is open, and tickets may be purchased at the door, with cash sales preferred.

Mean Girls - High School Edition introduces us to Cady Heron (junior Kaylee Kartholl), a sheltered, home-schooled teenager raised in South Africa who suddenly finds herself relocating to a high school in the suburbs of Chicago. A classic fish-out-of-water tale, this story explores the complexities of friendship dynamics, clique behavior, and the inherent difficulties of adolescence. Cady must navigate the landscape of seeking popularity against the humanity of kindness and decency. Contemporary students can relate to the themes of bullying, resilience, authenticity, and just trying to fit in.

Cady’s friends are portrayed by junior Charlotte Goodin (Janis) and junior Victor Tellez (Damian). The roles of “The Plastics” are filled by junior Tiya Tenetti (Regina), senior Gina Desantis (Gretchen), and senior Nicolette Vandergriff (Karen).

2026 Spirit of Excellence Recipients

Lake Park Educational Foundation celebrates two Lancers for Life.

The Lake Park Educational Foundation will celebrate distinguished alumni, students and staff at the annual Lake Park Spirit of Excellence Celebration Dinner on Thursday, April 16. Student Financial Assistance

If applicable, complete the process for 2026-2027 by May 8.

The District is once again offering a streamlined program for Waived Fee and Free Lunch for the 2026-2027 school year to make online registration more efficient when it opens in June. Because family situations may change from year-to-year, please disregard if this information is not applicable.

In order to receive consideration for the Waived Fee and Free Lunch Program, families will need to complete a form, provide the required verification information, and submit it to the Student Services Office. Contact Student Services at the respective campus between the business hours of 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. to schedule an appointment and initiate the process. Please complete the Student Financial Assistance application ahead of your appointment. Before final approval can be granted, the District must verify your income. The deadline to complete this process is Friday, May 8. 

To qualify for this program, the state requires families to provide one of the following proof of income in addition to the Student Financial Assistance application:

• 1040 Federal Income Tax Form
• W2 statement(s)
• 2 current payroll stubs/direct deposit receipts, if paid twice a month
• 4 current payroll stubs/direct deposit receipts if paid weekly OR
• Proof of SNAP/TANF: Current Letter of Determination from the Department of Human Services (DHS) showing the eligibility date, case number, benefits received, and recipient name
