Lancettes season culminates in fifth IHSA Class 3A state championship title!

Congratulations to the Lake Park Lancettes Competitive Dance team who achieved a historic victory, capturing back-to-back IHSA Class 3A State Championship titles in Bloomington on Saturday, January 31. This marks their fifth state title (2014, 2022, 2023, 2025, 2026), second back-to-back years, and ninth overall state medal, adding to their impressive record of two runner-up finishes (2015, 2020) and two third-place finishes (2019, 2024).

One week prior, on Saturday, January 24 at Dundee-Crown High School, the Lancettes secured their fifth consecutive IHSA Class 3A Sectional title, advancing them to the state finals. This extended their remarkable streak of qualifying for the IHSA State Championships every year since its inception in 2012-2013—a testament to the program's consistent excellence. In those 14 years, they have won eight sectional championships, including the most recent five in a row. This year's accomplishments also includes the title of DuKane Conference Champions.

Celebrating the Back-to-Back State Champions

• On Thursday, February 5 the Village of Roselle e-newsletter recognized the Lancettes State Champs with a shout out in their Community News section.
• On Friday, February 6, the Village of Bloomingdale proclaimed today Lancettes Day.
• On Friday, February 6 (tonight), the Lancettes competitive dance team and coaching staff will be introduced to present the State Championship Trophy before the varsity boys’ basketball game in an on-court ceremony as part of the Senior Night celebration and then perform the always popular Mancettes routine at halftime. A crowd favorite!

Congratulations to Lancers Competitive Co-Ed Cheer for qualifying for the IHSA State meet at the Dundee-Crown Sectional on Saturday, January 31. This represents the third consecutive season the Lancers have advanced to the IHSA State Competitive Cheer Championships that will be hosted this weekend, February 6-7, at Grossinger Motors Arena in Bloomington.

Back by popular demand, a 2-campus State Spirit March and send-off breakfast was held in their honor at both campuses on Thursday, February 5.

This marks the 17th time the program has qualified for state making it one of the top programs in Illinois for IHSA State appearances in Competitive Cheerleading since the inception of the IHSA State Series in 2006. Good luck to the team competing at 6:10 p.m. in Friday's Prelims.

Returning for a second year, the Taste of Lake Park will be hosted at West Campus on Thursday February 12 from 5:00 to 6:30 p.m. Join us to taste local restaurants' favorite foods while supporting various Lancer clubs and activities. Lancer fans are invited to the 4th Annual Lancer HERO Basketball Game on Thursday, February 12 at 6:00 p.m. as the Lancer HERO students play against the Lake Park boys and girls basketball teams. Admission is a $5 donation to Special Olympics. The event will also benefit the Lancer HERO student organization. Remember to show your support and wear red!

Lancer HERO is a club that unites the general education and special education students in order to promote social skills and community. Together they participate in social gatherings, fundraising, school events, and other school activities.

Lancer Period Bell Schedule

The Lancer Period lessons this month offer campus-specific content.

While maintaining the same start and end times for each campus, Lake Park designed a Lancer Period Bell Schedule to allocate 38 minutes for whole-school programming that falls outside the traditional curriculum. The Lancer Period is scheduled approximately once per month on Thursdays. All students and staff are assigned to a designated classroom for the Lancer Period to ensure whole-school participation in each activity. On Thursday, February 12, the Lancer Period will cover the following campus-specific topics: 

East Campus | Student Habits, Real World Outcomes

This lesson will focus on students' habits and emphasize how everyday statements (e.g. I could do better, but I’m just lazy; This is pointless, I’ll never use it; School isn’t real life.) can produce unproductive responses and beliefs that can follow them into the future. Students will examine the short- and long-term consequences of these habits and discuss alternative mindsets that better align with their personal goals.

West Campus | Signs of Suicide (SOS)

In partnership with Elyssa’s Mission, a nonprofit organization dedicated to suicide prevention, this lesson will deliver the Signs of Suicide (SOS) program. SOS is an evidence-based program that incorporates two key suicide prevention strategies: a curriculum that raises awareness of suicide and mental health issues and a brief screening for depression and other risk factors associated with suicidal thoughts and behaviors. The program will be facilitated by classroom teachers who will engage students by showing the SOS video and leading students in a discussion about how to implement the key message of Acknowledge, Care, and Tell (ACT).

Parent Advisory Committee

Lancer families invited to attend a school safety presentation on February 12.

Similar to the first semester, East Campus Principal Dr. Sean Potts and West Campus Principal Dr. Alexia Ellett invite parents/guardians to participate in the upcoming meetings of the Parent Advisory Committee for the second semester of 2025-2026. Together they will facilitate the meetings from 4:00 to 5:00 p.m. on the following dates:

Winter Joust Returns

Enjoy the "Sport of the Arts" at West Campus on February 14.

Lake Park High School's Winter Guard will take center stage when the Midwest Color Guard Circuit hosts the Winter Joust at West Campus. The competition begins on Saturday, February 14 at 3:30 p.m. with awards to follow. The show will feature 15 winter guard units from Illinois and Indiana with Lake Park performing at approximately 5:10 p.m.

Winter Guard, called the "Sport of the Arts" is an indoor version of Color Guard that brings music to life through the use of set design, costuming, flags, sabers, rifles, and other equipment as well as dance, interpretive movement, and acting.

South Asian Advocacy Group

Join mental wellness series and virtual workshops starting February 19.

The Lake Park South Asian Advocacy Group (SAAG) collaborated with NAMI Chai & Chat for a powerful three-part series held throughout January. On Saturday, January 24, Aashna Doshi and Tiya Tenniti presented Finding Our Voice: Mental Wellness in the South Asian Community. This was followed by an in-person intergenerational event at National India Hub, hosted by NAMI Chai & Chat with support from Sanjeevani.

During these sessions, students engaged in meaningful conversations focused on breaking the stigma around mental health in the South Asian community and identifying ways to empower South Asian youth to speak openly about their experiences. Mental health professionals shared insights on culturally responsive care practices, generational gaps, and the importance of involving parents in these conversations. Students also learned about available resources and participated in self-care practices that offered practical strategies they can use in their daily lives. In addition to these important discussions, students enjoyed games, a shared meal, and the opportunity to build strong connections with one another. Families and community members are invited to join the upcoming virtual series focused on the impact of social media on mental health, featuring voices from Lake Park students. Lancer Artists Need Your Vote

Three Lancer artists Matt Hudak (11), Lina Bahena (11), and Stella Helgeson (11) competed in the Virtual Art Throwdown for sculpture on Thursday, February 5 hosted by Illinois High School Art Exhibition. Together, they created an amazing 3-foot cardboard sculpture in only two hours while competing against students from other various art programs from around Illinois.

Lake Park Educational Foundation Topgolf Event

Register for LPEF's annual fundraiser at Topgolf Schaumburg on March 19.

The Lake Park Educational Foundation hopes you will join the fun Thursday, March 19 for an evening that includes three hours of unlimited golf, buffet dinner and soft drinks. The event will take place at Topgolf in Schaumburg from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.
