Excitement is building for "Enchantment Under The Sea" Homecoming 2025, which will be celebrated the week of Monday, October 6 through Saturday, October 11. Homecoming Week will include the following spirit days and events:

• Girls Football (Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.) $5 admission benefits breast cancer awareness
• Pep Rally (Friday at 1:30 p.m.) Live Stream Link
• Varsity Football vs. St. Charles East (Friday at 7:00 p.m.)
• Dance (Saturday from 6:00 to 9:00 p.m.)

Important Information:

• The Homecoming Dance will be held in the West Campus gymnasium from 6:00-9:00 p.m. Attendees must arrive before 7:30 p.m.
• Homecoming Dance tickets can be purchased using credit/debit cards online or in-person (by cash or check made out to Lake Park High School).
• Guest tickets must be purchased at the same time as the LP student by cash or check by Thursday, October 9 at 2:00 p.m. accompanied by the completed guest form. No guest tickets will be sold at the door.
• Lake Park student ticket prices will increase to $30 beginning on Thursday, October 9 at 2:00 p.m. through Saturday, October 11 at 2:00 p.m. Cash ticket sales at the door will be $30. Tickets will not be sold after 7:30 p.m.

On Friday, October 10, students will follow a modified bell schedule to attend an all-school pep assembly at West Campus. Students in all grade levels are required to stay for the duration of the event–this is not an optional learning activity. Lancers who choose not to attend the assembly will be directed to a supervised, quiet study space. If a student states that they have an appointment at that time, the main offices will be asking for documentation in addition to calling home in advance of the student leaving for the day.

Transportation

Bus transportation will be provided for East Campus students to travel to West Campus at 1:00 p.m. and for all students following the assembly (only East Campus routes). Parents/Guardians who are picking up an East Campus student at the end of the school day should arrive by 2:45 p.m. at West Campus, 500 W. Bryn Mawr Avenue. Families will be staged in the parking lot on the corner of Bryn Mawr and Mensching across from the tennis courts. Once buses depart campus, drivers will be directed to the front of West Campus to pick up their students. Please note that athletic shuttle buses will run from West Campus to East Campus after all regular routes have departed at 2:45 p.m.

While maintaining the same start and end times for each campus, Lake Park designed a Lancer Period Bell Schedule to allocate 38 minutes for whole-school programming that falls outside the traditional curriculum. The Lancer Period is scheduled approximately once per month on Thursdays. All students and staff are assigned to a designated classroom for the Lancer Period to ensure whole-school participation in each activity. 

The Culture We Create | Thursday, October 9

During this month's Lancer Period, students will be able to reflect on Lake Park’s current student culture and identify what is going well and what could be improved upon; examine ways their peers may or may not feel supported when they are at school; and collaborate with their class to generate a proposed solution to improve an aspect of Lake Park’s student culture.

It’s never too early to start exploring your college options! With so many choices available, it is important for students to learn about different colleges and what they have to offer. This can help students identify their priorities when building a college application list. The goal is finding the right “fit.” 

To assist students in the college search process, the Career & College Center (CCC) encourages Lancers to attend the IACAC Regional College Fair on Tuesday, October 14 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., hosted at the College of DuPage. This event is open to all students and their families. There will be over 165 colleges participating! 

To make the most of your experience, access this "Tips for College Fairs" resource. The CCC also recommends registering at StriveFair.com ahead of time. After registering, you will receive a barcode that colleges/universities will scan as you visit at the fair, which is much more efficient than filling out paper contact cards at every table.

In addition, there are two opportunities this month for students with disabilities and their families:

• Options Fair 10/15/25 - 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. | Morton West High School

The 11th Annual "Make a Difference Day" tradition continues with students giving back to the community through volunteer experiences. Students will meet at West Campus in the morning for breakfast, and from there, transportation will be provided to and from most projects on Saturday, October 18 from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m.

This year’s event involves on-campus beautification projects including building a monarch garden, working on the West Campus patio, and a potential community garden collaboration. The off-campus projects involve food packing at Feed My Starving Children and Kids Against Hunger Illinois.

Numerous Lancer teams, groups, and classes–including Civics in Action–are already signed up for Make a Difference Day. If your student would like to get involved and is not already participating through one of these groups, contact Patryk Pliszka in the Activities Office to register.

Students who are proficient in a home language or language learned in school are eligible to test for and earn the Seal of Biliteracy. This recognition is awarded to qualifying students who demonstrate proficiency in both English and one or more other world languages. 

The Seal of Biliteracy, offered by the State of Illinois, will appear on the student’s diploma and official school transcript. Earning this distinction is an honor that students can share with universities, future employers, and service organizations who value individuals with bilingual skills. 

Students who speak another language at home are encouraged to register for the fall exam date to have the opportunity to earn this special honor based on their second language abilities. The languages offered and testing fee can be found on the Intent to Participate form linked below. Students who are enrolled in a Level 3 or higher of a World Language course are encouraged to register for the spring exam date.

In order to earn the Seal of Biliteracy, students must meet the required proficiency levels on state approved English and World Language assessments, as outlined on the Intent to Participate form. Applying for this recognition is voluntary and students are responsible for the cost associated with taking the qualifying assessments. To register for the fall Seal of Biliteracy assessment, complete the Intent to Participate form no later than Wednesday, October 15.

Lake Park High School's Film Appreciation Society is excited to announce Oktoberfestival!, a collaboration event with the Lake Park German Exchange Program. This special film screening will showcase classic German Expressionism in the 1931 film M (original German title Eine Stadt sucht einen Mörder), a psychological suspense masterpiece that follows the path of a serial killer. The free event will be held on Wednesday, October 15 at 6:00 p.m. in the West Campus auditorium. Run time for the film is 1 hour, 39 minutes.

The film is shown in German with English subtitles and stars Hollywood legend Peter Lorre as Hans Beckert, a dastardly child murderer. The innovative sound and visuals of this film were a groundbreaking treatment in film media that had a significant influence on future filmmakers Orson Welles and Alfred Hitchcock.

Community film buffs are invited to attend the cinematic presentation and stay for an in-depth panel discussion regarding the background and history of the film. Additionally, there will be movie trivia and German-themed prizes awarded!

The Lake Park Film Appreciation Society aims to engage the community in the presentation, exploration, interpretation, and critical discussion of classic cinema.

More than 50 Lake Park students recently had a unique opportunity to engage directly with government leaders at "Power Hour: Your Leaders, Your Voice, Your Future," an interactive forum hosted by the Youth League of the League of Women Voters of Roselle-Bloomingdale Area on Friday, September 26.

The youth-led event brought students face-to-face with prominent officials for candid conversations about leadership, public service, and the future of democracy. Participating leaders, as seated left to right, included:

• Emanuel “Chris” Welch, Speaker of the Illinois House of Representatives
• State Rep. Michele Mussman
• Bloomingdale Township Supervisor Michael Hovde
• State Sen. Seth Lewis

Moderated by Youth League leaders, the forum featured questions on what inspired officials to enter public service, legislation and policies directly impacting young people, and practical advice for civic-minded students preparing to vote or volunteer.

“Our goal was to give students a meaningful opportunity to meet their elected officials, get direct answers to their questions, and see that their voices matter,” said Joan Richards, Youth League Coordinator. “By sparking curiosity, building trust and creating space for honest dialogue, we’re showing young people that democracy and its future belongs to them.” Students said they appreciated hearing about the real-world challenges of leadership and learning how government decisions impact their communities.
