Today not only marks the completion of the Illinois Science Assessment - having tested freshmen enrolled in biology - but also launches the start of spring standardized testing at Lake Park. Families will receive additional communication about testing requirements, but are encouraged to take note of the upcoming dates and modified schedules.

Based upon the adoption of the SAT by the Illinois State Board of Education in 2016, Lake Park similarly adopted the complete SAT assessment suite. In preparation, the SAT Paperwork Day will be administered on Wednesday, March 22 for juniors only. Seniors will have a late arrival. West Campus students will then follow a modified eight-period schedule beginning at 9 a.m. with first period. East Campus will have a normal school day.

Following spring break, on Wednesday, April 5, freshmen will complete the PSAT 8/9 and sophomores will take the PSAT 10. The results of the PSAT exams will help students, families, and staff identify students' readiness to perform well on the SAT. Buses will pick-up students at their normal morning times and return students immediately upon completion of testing.

All juniors will take the SAT on Wednesday, April 5, similar to many high schools throughout Illinois. Please note this is a senior non-attendance day. Buses will pick-up students at their normal morning times and return students immediately upon completion of testing.

Advanced Placement testing will take place May 1 through May 12. To be eligible, families must register online using the AP test registration site before it closes at 11:59 p.m. next Friday, March 17.

Lake Park faculty and staff are committed to providing a positive testing experience for students. As a reminder, free academic resources are available online to prepare Lancers for these important dates. Please contact your student's counselor or teachers if you have any questions or concerns.

Lancer Student Activities Represent in State Competitions
Rube Goldberg Team Earns
Back-to-Back State Champion Titles
Congratulations to Lake Park's Rube Goldberg team who earned back-to-back State Champion titles in only their second year of competition!  Founded in the 2015-16 school year by physics teacher James Kryger, the team is comprised of 10 students who have logged hundreds of hours to construct a  Rube Goldberg machine for competition. The 75-step machine is a complicated contraption that accomplishes a simple task in the most complex way possible. The  design theme showcased classic video games that were brought to life to aide in the process of the final required step: applying a band aid. The Lancer team will represent Illinois and compete in National competition next month in Ohio.

Best wishes to 9 East Campus and 42 West Campus DECA students who will represent Lake Park and compete in the Illinois Career Development State Conference hosted this weekend in Rosemont. The students earned this opportunity having placed in the Top 10 in their respective categories during the DECA Sectional competition.

Good luck to Lake Park's Robotics team that will compete in the Illinois Vex Robotics High School State Championship on Saturday, March 11. Pre-qualified teams will have a chance to advance to the World Competition. Hosted by Fox Valley Robotics and Batavia Robotics at Rotolo Middle School in Batavia, event admission is free and the public is welcome to walk through the pit areas and watch the robots.
