St. Baldrick's Foundation: Going Bald for a Cause
Lake Park SROs shave heads to fund raise for children's cancer research.

Special thanks to School Resource Officers Ryan Forrest (East Campus) and  Chris Schwytzer (West Campus) who volunteered to  shave their heads as part of the Roselle Police Department's participation in the annual St. Baldrick's Foundation fundraiser

Worldwide, a child is diagnosed with cancer every two minutes; in the U.S., more children die of childhood cancer than any other disease. Many Lancers have been personally affected, which motivated Lake Park's SROs to support this fundraising effort for childhood cancer research.

Nearly $1500 was raised districtwide through raffle ticket sales as well as coin, cash and online donations. One hundred percent of the profits will be donated to the St. Baldrick's foundation to support life saving research! Special thanks to Italian Pizza Kitchen for donating pizza lunch to the student "winners" whose names were drawn to participate in the head shaving on   Thursday, March 14.

The RPD St. Baldrick's Shave Event will be hosted on Saturday, March 16 at 4:00 p.m. at the station, located at 103 E. Prospect Street. Online donations are still being accepted to support the Foundation's cancer research efforts.

Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB)
West Campus students can voluntarily participate in the April 17 test administration.

Lake Park High School is offering the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude Battery (ASVAB) on Wednesday, April 17 to interested juniors and seniors. The ASVAB is a multi-aptitude test that is administered in over 14,000 schools and military facilities nationwide.

The test is not required and students must receive parental permission to take the test, which is administered during the school day. After the test is scored, military representatives meet with students to review the results and to provide additional resources for learning about military service. The ASVAB Career Exploration Program provides a great deal of information about the ASVAB and how it can be used as a tool for career exploration. Students should be aware that they may be contacted by a recruiter after the score results are reviewed by the military.

Students interested in taking the ASVAB should speak with his/her Lake Park counselor. Read more information about the administration of the ASVAB at Lake Park.
