Worship With Us This Sunday!

Lent is the season of the church year leading up to the celebration of the resurrection of Jesus. During this time, it is customary to renew focus on Jesus, his work of salvation, and on our need for his mercy and grace.

To that end, our sermon series this Lent is entitled, The Power of the Cross. This series is intended to listen to what the cross declares-- the depth of the love of God. The cross not only speaks, but the cross also accomplishes a number of things on our behalf. At the cross we are loved, we are covered in the righteousness of Jesus, saved from God’s wrath, reconciled to him, enveloped by grace and are given victory over all evil powers. Praise the Lord!

Two worship notes:

  • Communion. We will be celebrating the Sacrament of Holy Communion this Sunday, March 9, in recognition of the First Sunday of Lent, and as our response to the Word of the cross from Philippians 2:1-11. We deviated last week from our usual pattern of first-Sunday communion observance in order to sync with the beginning of Lent. That said, please invest some time Saturday evening or before worship on Sunday morning to prepare your heart for communion.

  • Prayer cards. Beginning this Sunday you will find prayer cards in the sanctuary pew racks or the pews pads in the Ark. Please use these to share your prayer requests, praises, and answers to prayer. You can drop the prayer cards in the offering boxes and they will be added to the weekly prayer list. There is an option on the card to mark your request as “confidential.” If you choose that option, your request will only come to the pastors. Our hope is that adding the prayer cards will stir the volume of requests we can be praying for. May we seek the face of God in prayer together and be in awe of how he works!

Our Tenors and Basses from our LPC Choir will be performing the beautiful choral rendition, "I Then Shall Live," on March 30, and we need more Tenors and Basses who can contribute to this powerful choral anthem. The vocal distribution for this song is: Tenor 1,2 and Bass 1,2.

Our potential rehearsals will be on the evenings of March 12, 19, and 26. We will sing this anthem on Sunday, March 30, at the 8:30 AM service.
