Dear Legacy Point Parents,

I wish all of you could come into our building to see the great things going on. There is a "nose to the grindstone" feel, and it seems students and teachers haven't skipped a beat with returning. We are so proud of this community and the tenacity to make it through the changing postures of learning.

On another note, please please please be extra aware of your speed for student drop off and pick up on our neighboring streets. We have recently had some complaints regarding this. As true leaders in our community, I know we all want to make this a win-win and support our neighbors who live so close to our school. Please drive extra cautiously and let's show them our true character and take care of each other. Thank you!
Kristin

Information on AVID for 5th-grade parents

AVID is a College Readiness and Acceleration System

  • AVID is an international program/system that supports academic acceleration and supports college readiness development. AVID serves and impacts over 1,300,000 students nationally and internationally. AVID has partnered with Colorado for the past eighteen years and currently serves twenty-two school districts and 122 school sites. 93% of AVID seniors in high school are completing and exceed college entrance requirements. AVID is designed to enable schoolwide implementation of AVID’s proven instructional methodologies and content area best practices to improve outcomes for all students.
  • The AVID Elective provides students a competitive advantage that sets students on the college track, requiring them to enroll in the most rigorous courses that are appropriate for them, such as Honors and Advanced Placement®. To support them in the rigorous coursework, AVID students learn organizational and study skills, develop critical thinking, learn to ask probing questions, receive academic help from peers and college tutors, and participate in enrichment and motivational activities to make their college dreams a reality.

We will be accepting applications until Friday, February 5th.

This information has been shared with the 5th-grade teachers. Please reach out to your 5th-grade teacher if you would like more information
