Education

Just a reminder of the importance of maintaining the proper pace of play. Regardless of the venue or the players’ abilities, golfers are expected to keep up with the group ahead at all times. Failing to maintain the pace by allowing a gap of one or more open holes in front of your group, or refusing requests from course personnel to pick up the pace reflects badly on our organization and can damage our relationship with our host courses.

Please review some reminders about pace and course etiquette at https://chapters.lpgaamateurs.com/education/education/NYLI

The warmer weather means more crowded courses and sometimes slower golf rounds, but let’s all do our part to ensure that our members are never the cause of the slow play. Thank you, Maureen Mahoney Rules Chair

Find all golf rules, etiquette, pace of play resources below and on our website. lpgaamateurslongisland.com

Rules: The USGA Rules of Golf govern our league play. We encourage all members to review Rules and Clarifications (usga.org), and to download the USGA Rules of Golf app so information is readily available should a rules question arise during the course of play.

Etiquette on the Course

The LPGA Amateurs resource, Etiquette on the Course, is designed to help golfers of all experience levels play respectfully and responsibly while protecting the course.

Whether you're new to the game or a seasoned player, this guide covers key topics like:

  • What to do when you arrive at the course
  • Tips for maintaining a good pace of play
  • Scoring etiquette
  • And much more

Testimonial

. . . Very early on when I joined the League, I was interested in playing an event that was out of state. Being very new to the league, I didn’t know a lot of members, but I met Jane Metzger. I didn’t have a place to the stay and everyone had joined in groups already and had accommodations, Jane was gracious enough to reach out to me and said I could stay in her room. I grabbed a blow up mattress and was very grateful to stay with Jane Thank you, Jane
