PART ONE

LPTV GOES
TO CONGRESS

WE'VE DESIGNED A HUGE REVENUE-RAISING  BILL & SPECTRUM CLEARING MECHANISM  FOR A VOLUNTARY BUYBACK OF LPTV AND TRANSLATOR RIGHTS,  BUT THE CBO SCORING PROCESS FOR SPECTRUM AUCTIONS  MAY LIMIT OR BLOCK ITS' USEFULNESS

Below is an article which appeared last Friday in the venerable Communications Daily.  If you get it, then you may have already seen this.  We would have lead with it in Friday's newsletter, but the breaking news on the Incentive Auction opening bid prices and how that affected the Class-A licenses took precedent.

NOTE:  Since the FCC just came out on Friday with the new opening
bid prices,  this chart above is being reworked.

NOTE:  If the buyback does not happen when described above, more than 5000 LPTV
and TV translator licenses and permits will be filing for new permit applications.  This will severely impact the TV white space industry, and the unlicensed economy.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Later this week, in Part Two of this series, we will share the most recent
version of our bill which does not use an auction to generate revenues.

The research needed to craft solutions for the LPTV and TV translator industry just doesn't happen by itself.  Members of our Coalition have stepped up and provided the basic funding, but we also need your financial support to keep the process moving forward.  Rather than go to the Courts, we are trying to get favorable legislation passed, and the research we do is essential.  If you have a license or construction permit, then it is in your vital interest to support this research and advocacy process.
