RBR EDITOR
SPEAKS OUT FOR LPTV

In response to last week's press release about the total lack of interest by the House Energy and Committee Subcommittee, RBR's Editor, Dave Seyler, wrote a story about it, and then the following "observation":

"There are untold billions of dollars riding on the incentive auction, and an increasingly disgruntled LPTV community is threatening to do whatever it can to gum up the works.

With all this potential cash on the table, you'd think the powers that be both in Congress and at the FCC would make an attempt to do the right thing for LPTV licensees. These are small businesses serving their communities and they do not deserve to be squashed in the service of making it easier to stream cat videos on a smartphone.

We do not buy the argument that we need to use this auction to pay off the national debt. It will be a largely symbolic gesture. For example, we just tuned in the debt clock. It doesn't sit still, but it was around $18.164 trillion.

If the auction raises $100 billion free and clear after paying expenses and

reimbursing participating broadcasters, the national debt (assuming it froze at

the above amount) would be knocked down to $18.064 trillion. Big whoop.

So why not settle out of court - allocate some of the cash to LPTV. Either allow LPTV to participate in the auction, or at the very least hold LPTV licensees harmless with proper remuneration for moving or going out of business costs?

If we were the powers that be, we'd be thinking along those lines for both practical and moral purposes."

PROOF THAT WE EXIST!
The Coalition's long-standing "BIG MAP" project, which was established to visualize key data-sets which could be utilized to both prove that LPTV and TV translators actually exist, and that they/we are the dominate low-band spectrum holders.  BIG MAP was backed by strategic investments made by sustaining members of the Coalition during the past year, and the results are a potential game-changer for how the Congress and the FCC will treat us going forward into the auction and repack.

BIG DATA will be unveiled at the SAVE LPTV RALLY, Sunday, April 12th to kick off the NAB Show for LPTV and TV translator attendees, as well as our supporting industry members and sponsors.  For those of you not making the trek to the desert for the annual TV confab, the Coalition will be posting on its website and in this newsletter the BIG DATA landing page.  We can now prove that we exist, and after the NAB show, both the Congress and the FCC will know it!

And don't forget that the Coalition is hosting the LPTV LUNCH
on LPTV DAY.  Just some food, drink, door prizes, and the official release of the 2015 LPTV INDUSTRY DIRECTORY.  Monday night we switch gears and become a GOLD SPONSOR of the Advanced Television Broadcasting Alliance's LPTV Reception, so see you there also.

Before we get into some news items, a little housekeeping since we have been busy literally 24/7 getting ready for the NAB show:

1)  The Coalition's 2015 LPTV INDUSTRY DIRECTORY FIRST PRINT EDITION is now at the printer, and we hope it is well received at the NAB Show, and then again in May at the NTA meeting in Reno.  There were over 25 sponsors and content collaborators, so a lot of diverse research, opinions, and viewpoints are presented.  We will be saving some copies for those of you not attending either NAB or NTA, and we will soon let you know how to get them.  The digital edition, which is on-going and limitless, will launch soon after the NAB show.  So if you missed out on the print edition, you will still be able to participate.
