"SCOOP: ESHOO AIDE TO JOIN CLYBURN'S OFFICE  - Rep. Anna Eshoo's Legislative Director David Grossman is heading to the FCC to work in Democratic Commissioner Mignon Clyburn's office, according to two sources. Eshoo's and Clyburn's offices declined to comment. Grossman's move comes a few months after the departure of Chanelle Hardy, Clyburn's former chief of staff who left for Google in January. Clyburn is also advised on policy by Rebekah Goodheart, Louis Peraertz and Holly Saurer. Grossman, a very active Democratic voice in tech policy debates on Capitol Hill, didn't respond to an inquiry from MT."

Why are we commenting on this?  Because for those of you which do not troll the halls of Congress or the 8th floor of the FCC, this simple personnel change might seem routine enough, but let me tell you, it is not.  The revolving door here in DC has been especially busy at the FCC, and staff of Commissioners is like a rite of passage for these federal communications bar folks.  But what I find especially troubling is that over the past three years of advocating and lobbying for LPTV and translators, I now have had to brief 4, and now with this new appointment, 5 different staff members of the same Commissioner.  But what is good about this particular appointment is that I have been trying to get in to see this guy for years now, with no success.  He is a faithful reader of this newsletter, so a shout to him, and a warning that there is no hiding now. He knows what the ROD is and its' power. He will have to put up with us now, we are official US government FCC broadcast television licensees and permittees, and he will be representing the FCC, not just some 700,000 Silicon Valley nerdy citizens.  Hopefully he will use the antiseptic at the front door of the FCC and get that MicroGoo off of his hands.  All the best.
