NCTA PLEADS  WITH MEDIA BUREAU
TO NOT FORCE POST-AUCTION LPTV CHANNEL SHARING ON THEM

from their FCC ex parte filing today

COALITION COMMENTARY
Like really, do we need to go here?  The cable companies, through NCTA, are trying to claim that they might be harmed by little old LPTV if they have to carry a few more of them because of channel sharing. How that would happen I am not sure, since if you have carriage now, you should have carriage then.  What I want to know is, shouldn't the FCC demand from the MVPD that they replenish the public service obligation carriage they are not having to continue since a lot of primary and Class A stations are sold in the auction?  Should they make it up by carrying LPTV?  Lots to think about here folks.  Why should the MVPD and NCTA members get a windfall of new channels by no longer having to carry channels with public service obligations?
