HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE BOARD
The LSAW Board of Directors met virtually on May 18, 2022. Below are highlights from the meeting.

  • Membership numbers are starting to increase. If you have not paid your 2022 dues, make sure you renew soon!

  • Next year's conference will be held February 15-17, 2023 at the Grand Davenport in Spokane, WA. The Board of Directors authorized Executive Director Crissy Willson to reach out to Tulalip Resort for the 2024 Conference and to our neighboring associations for the potential of a joint conference in 2026.

  • The Awards Ad-Hoc Committee is working on updating the criteria for LSAW awards. The committee will submit recommendations to the Board at the next meeting.

  • A Celebration of Life for Jim Coan is planned for August 13th at Renton Technical College. We will notify the membership as more details become available.


  • NSPS would like to remind all members to subscribe to the NSPS News & Views If you are not receiving the News & Views be sure to check your spam folder.

  • NSPS continues to oppose the reclassifications of Land Surveyors to laborers/mechanics as proposed by the Department of Labor. Special thanks to all the LSAW members that took the time to submit comments.

  • The Walker Golf Tournament will be held on August 12th. Information has been emailed to the membership and is available on the LSAW Calendar


  • LSAW members are encouraged to check out Mentoring Mondays, a free weekly virtual discussion group for the profession. 

  • Help build the 2022 Transformation Tool, get out and collect GPS on benchmarks. Tom Barger is coordinating this effort for Washington State. The deadline has been extended.

  • Be sure to subscribe to the LSAW Calendar (google calendar) or check back often as Chapter and other events are added.
Important! Washington state emergency heat exposure rules, effective June 15, 2022, increase protection for outdoor workers. Employers must take additional precautions to prevent heat-related illness. The emergency rules update existing rules that are in place annually from May through the end of September. FUNDAMENTALS OF SURVEYING EXAM STUDY COURSE
LSAW in conjunction with the Western Federation of Professional Surveyors (WFPS) is pleased to announce the availability of a new online study course. Approximately 16 hours of videos and a manual to help you prepare to take the Fundamentals of Surveying exam.
