Through explanation and discussion of RCW 58.09, WAC 332-120, WAC 332-130, and other pertinent survey-related laws, this presentation will highlight some of the standards that all surveyors are required to meet. The concept of professionalism will guide a discussion on the application of these laws. This presentation will also showcase how the Public Land Survey Office (PLSO), within the Department of Natural Resources (DNR), is an indispensable resource for land surveyors.

Certified Federal Surveyor Program Standards of Practice

The CFedS Standards of Practice provide the operational requirements for CFedS in both Federal and State Authority surveys. In addition to the standards, an in-depth review of the CFeds Program Handbook will also be covered. Current CFedS who attend and pass a related quiz will receive one continuing education credit. This presentation will also interest those individuals who contemplate becoming CFedS in the future and wish to improve their professional credentials.

Advanced Record Research for the PLSS
Speaker: Robert Femling & Washington/Oregon BLM Cadastral Office Staff
This presentation will provide an in-depth review of proper record research as part of the evidence collection process in making field boundary determinations when surveying in the PLSS. This record research includes consideration of corner records, Master Title Plats, Supplemental Survey Plats, field notes, Land Patents, Control Document Index, and other public and private Land Status Records. CFedS who attend and pass a related quiz will receive one continuing education credit.

This course qualifies for 2 CFedS credit hours. For those requiring CFedS credit, an additional $25 will be payable the day of the seminar.
