What is an Oak Cookie?

To find out, attend our FREE webinar about
Salem's Oregon Oak Salvage Project

Monday, May 10 at 10am via Zoom
Willamette University Professors, Karen Arabas, David Craig, and Joe Bowersox are partnering with the Salem Parks Department on the "2021 Oregon Oak Salvage Project."

They are taking the ice storm's damage to Salem's iconic white oak trees and transforming it into knowledge that will help us to better understand the history of Salem's urban forests, animal habitats, and climate patterns.

The professors and students have collected over 100 oak "cookies" - thin slices of fallen or felled Oregon white oak trees - from parks, public areas, and residential gardens to use in their research project.

Tickets are just $20 per person ages 16 and older and free under age 16.

This year, limited timed entry tickets will be sold to comply with COVID-19 social distancing requirements. Select to come Saturday or Sunday and on the hour between 10am and 3pm. No tickets may be purchased on site during the garden tour.

Farm fresh boxed lunches featuring health savories, sweets and beverage, generously supplied by Minto Growers, may be ordered ahead for $15.00 (order at bottom of ticket screen.) Pick up at the event to enjoy on site before or after your tour.

Parking is available on street, and in Court Street Church parking lot (except 10-1pm Sunday.)
