Our annual donated funds directly impact the number of

free workshops and volunteer support services

Lake Stewards of Maine is able to provide.

As of today, we’ve raised $44,000 of the $75,000 goal, and although we are encouraged by this progress, we still have a ways to go!

We would love your support!

Ice-In Reporting

With winter's cold winds blowing and snow on the ground, many lakes have frozen over and some others will soon. Please help us document these seasonal shifts by submitting ice-in observations for their lakes.

Tracking ice cover is critical to understanding how Maine’s lakes are responding to changing climate patterns and what that means for water quality and ecosystem health.

Resources can be found on the Ice Tracking page of our website.

If your lake isn’t currently part of this effort, we encourage you to begin this winter. No certification or lakefront residence is required for this and we encourage anyone interested to submit sightings.

Please fill out our ice reporting form or submit by email to Stewards@lakestewardsme.org.

Strengthen Your Lake Association’s Volunteer Program

A course offered by the University of Maine.

Volunteers are essential to keeping our lakes healthy whether they’re monitoring water quality, staffing events, or working on educational programs. The University of Maine’s Introductory Volunteer Management learning experience (online) with a micro-credential will help your lake association recruit, train, and keep great volunteers. Flexible, online, and based in research, it’s designed for busy community leaders who want to make every volunteer hour count.

Learn more and register for level 1 for only $30 (half price discount available if you register before the end of the year.)
