Grounds and Gratitude - June 16th

Looking for a moment of connection, reflection, and community? Our next Grounds and Gratitude gathering is happening on Monday, June 16th, from 9:30–11:30 AM at the LSM office—and we’d love to see you there!

These monthly gatherings are a chance to slow down, share a cup of coffee, and connect with fellow lake stewards, volunteers, and friends. No agenda, no pressure—just conversation, gratitude, and community spirit. Your presence makes these mornings meaningful.

We’re also thrilled to announce that this month’s event is sponsored by Tandem Coffee Roasters, a Portland-based roaster and bakery spreading joy since 2012. They’re also proud members of 1% For The Planet—supporting causes that protect the places we love.

📍 Stop by, stay awhile, and be part of something special.

Let’s keep building this beautiful community—one cup at a time.

Report Smoke Sightings – Help Improve Maine’s Air Quality Forecasts

From the Bureau of Air Quality – Maine DEP

The Maine Department of Environmental Protection’s Bureau of Air Quality is calling on local observers to help improve air quality forecasts by reporting smoke sightings across the state.

Documenting smoke from wildfires settling over lakes, valleys, and forested areas helps monitor air quality. Your early observations can make a big difference!

How You Can Help:

If you see wildfire smoke in your area, please fill out this quick and simple Smoke Survey:

 https://www.maine.gov/dep/air/forecast/smokesurvey.html

The survey can be submitted multiple times throughout the season and will remain open into the fall.

Your input helps enhance the accuracy of air quality alerts and supports a healthier Maine for all.

Through June 10, wildfire smoke will continue to cause poor air quality in Canada and parts of the northern United States, while a smoke plume reaches Greenland, Ireland, the United Kingdom and France. (Ben Noll/Data source: Copernicus Atmosphere Monitoring Service)
