Winterizing Your Meter: Protect Your Equipment for Spring

Autumn is here and it’s important to properly winterize your meter and probe to prevent damage until next years use. Proper care and storage help protect sensitive components and extend the lifetime of the probe and meter.

Please refer to the winterizing guidance documents included in your training packet for detailed instructions regarding your meter.

If you’d like assistance or prefer to have your meter winterized by LSM staff, feel free to drop it off at the LSM office during normal business hours or arrange a time to meet with staff working around the state. Taking this small step now helps safeguard your investment and supports a smooth start to next year’s monitoring season.

Know Your Basal Rosette Plants

The Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) team will lead a webinar titled "Know Your Basal Rosette Plants" on November 7 at 9:00 am.

These plants, which feature leaves alternately arranged radiating out from a central base at substrate level, are numerous and can be confusing to invasive plant patrollers. This program will teach volunteers how to recognize a basal rosette plant, identify native basal rosette plants, and determine native plants from invasive water solider (Stratiodes aloides), a newcomer from northern Europe now found in the United States.

This presentation is part of the on-going Know Your Plants series, a collection of online webinars about identifying targeted groups of native and invasive plants.

This webinar will be held live, but will be recorded and posted on the LSM website. To attend please register in the link below!
