As this year comes to end, we can’t help but reflect on the past year of great science that our LSU faculty and student researchers have produced. In 2018, our researchers discovered a group of lizards that have lime-green blood, created a more environmentally friendly Mardi Gras bead, and reached out to young girls in the Baton Rouge area to get them excited about chasing science.

Four College of Science Faculty Named Among the 2018 AAAS Fellows

Four LSU faculty members have been named Fellows of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, or AAAS, the world’s largest general scientific society. The four LSU professors are among the 416 AAAS members, who have been elevated to the rank of Fellow because of their efforts toward advancing science applications that are deemed scientifically or socially distinguished.

Professor Mark Batzer Addresses Fall 2018 Graduates

Mark Batzer , LSU Boyd Professor in Biological Sciences and Dr. Mary Lou Applewhite Distinguished Professor, was the keynote speaker for the College of Science Fall 2018 Diploma Ceremony today in the Maddox Fieldhouse. More than 130 students earned their bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees. The graduating class included 17 university medalists, which are students graduating with the highest grade point averages.
