Lauren DickersonLawrence North Class of 2016, has been listed as a candidate for the 2020 Nancy Lieberman Award. The Nancy Lieberman Award recognizes the best point guard in women's Division I basketball. Lauren is a two-time All MAC First Team selection after being named MAC Freshman of the Year following the 2016-17 season. She is also a two-time Academic All-MAC selection and has been named MAC Female Scholar Athlete of the Week, Miami Female Athlete of the Week, and Madness MAC Player of the Week. Lauren has made 686 field goals during her career as of January 4, 2020. That is a new school record! Interested in voting for Lauren Dickerson for the 2020 Nancy Lieberman Award? Kyle Guy Lawrence Central Class of 2016 , has made his official NBA debut with the Sacramento Kings after spending most of his season in the G League. Kyle became the eighth Virginia player to appear in an NBA game this season. Kyle has emerged as one of the top scorers so far this season in the G League with the Stockton Kings. He is averaging 21.1 points per game which is the 15th highest mark in the G League. Kyle has a career-high of 42 points made on November 30, 2019. In a recent game on January 24 against the Chicago Bulls, Kyle Guy scored his first points of his NBA career.

Al McKeller , Lawrence North Class of 2017, became UIndy's all-time leader in career rushing touchdowns by scoring his 39th touchdown versus Truman on November 9, 2019. Al became the first player in program history with three 1,000-yard-rushing seasons. Al broke UIndy and Greater Lakes Valley Conference records for career rushing touchdowns in just his third collegiate season, while also becoming the first rusher in school history with three 1,000-yard seasons to his credit. Al was honored by The Associated Press by being named to its Division II All-American Second Team. 

Lauren  Matthews Lawrence North Class of 2018 has been named an Honorable Mention All-American by the Volleyball Coaches Association. After earning Play of the Year honors from the AVCA's South Region and Conference USA, Lauren is the ninth Lady Topper to earn All-American honors in WKU Volleyball history. In just her second season, she has spent more than two months leading all of NCAA Volleyball in hitting percentage. Lauren works the net defensively, tallying 139 blocks for a 1.18 per set average this season. Lauren owns 36 solo blocks and 103 block assists. 

Ryli JohnLawrence North Class of 2019, has completed a successful first year as a player for the Marian University soccer team.  She helped the Knights to a Crossroads League Tournament title and a berth in the NAIA national tournament. Ryli appeared in 17 games as a reserve. She scored two goals and had one assist for a total of five points.  Marian finished the season with a 20-3-3 record, winning 20 matches for the first time in school history and finishing as national runner-up.  Ryli is majoring in Nursing and Spanish at Marian.

Please join your fellow Lawrence North basketball teammates for Alumni Day on Saturday, February 8, 2020. Lawrence North will be playing Connersville at 1:30 p.m. There will be a light lunch and refreshments in the LN Hospitality Room at 11:30 a.m. At approximately 1:10 p.m. there will be alumni introductions prior to the varsity game. There will be fellowship and storytelling after the game at Alibi's Grill.

State of the Schools Address

J oin the Greater Lawrence Chamber of Commerce for the 2020 State of the Schools Address, featuring Superintendent, Dr. Shawn Smith. Dr. Smith will reflect on 2019 and share his vision for MSDLT in 2020. The referendum will be addressed, with transparent information on how your investment will be beneficial to the growth & sustainability of your Lawrence Township schools. The 2020 State of the Schools Address will be held at the Lawrence Education and Community Center, 6501 Sunnyside Rd., in the Professional Development Room B115.

Elevate 2020 Award Finalists

Congratulations to LC Alumni Jasmin French and Tanorria Askew for being named 2020 Elevate Award finalists. United Way's Elevate Awards recognize the next generation of philanthropists, volunteers, and activists in the Central Indiana community. Jasmin has been nominated for her work on the board of Agave at the Eiteljorg Museum. Tanorria has been nominated for her work as an advocate for diversity and inclusion in the food community and beyond. You can vote now for the finalist who inspires you! The Elevate award winners will be announced at the ELEVATE Gala on February 29.
