Keeping Up With LT Alumni #LTpride
Patrick Loehrer M.D., Lawrence Central Class of 1971, is the director of the IU Simon Comprehensive Cancer Center. He recently earned two prestigious awards at a small gathering of family, friends, and colleagues. First, he received the Sagamore of the Wabash, the highest honor that Indiana’s governor can bestow upon a civilian. Dr. Loehrer also received the President’s Medal for Excellence, the highest honor an IU president can bestow, in recognition of his exceptional service to Indiana University. Dr. Loehrer has led the cancer center since 2009.
Brittany Anderson, Lawrence Central Class of 1995, was recently named as the Board President for the Oaklandon Youth Organization. Brittany becomes the first woman to lead the largest youth baseball and softball program on Indianapolis’ northeastside. Anderson had been volunteering at OYO since 2017 as a coach, board member, and executive board member in various capacities before being nominated and elected.
Angelica Cox, Lawrence Central Class of 2011, is a math teacher at Thrival Indy who is making it a mission to make sure students have the same opportunities she had. Thrival Indy would have been her dream school growing up. Thrival Indy is an IPS school which offers study abroad at no cost to students or families. Angelica enjoys being able to offer her students these wonderful opportunities.
Daeshon Francis, Lawrence North Class of 2014, received an Interperformances Player of the Week award for round 9. Daeshon, a guard for Eurobasket's Nokia team, had a double-double of 25 points and 11 rebounds, while his team crushed Vilpas. In the team's last game, Daeshon had a remarkable 88.9% from 2-point range. Daeshon was Nokia's top player in his first season with the team. Daeshon averages this season 16.6ppg and 5.3rpg.

The National African American Insurance Association Chapter of Indiana, in partnership with LTSF, is hosting a coat drive during November to benefit Lawrence Township students.
