2020 Eligible Premiums
The Internal Revenue Service [IRS] has announced increased tax deduction limitations for Qualified LTCi policies. For taxable years beginning in 2020, the limitations under Section 213(d)(10), regarding eligible long-term care premiums included in the term "medical care," are as follows:
Additionally, the per-diem limitation under Section 7702B(d)(4) for periodic payments received under a qualified LTCi contract for 2019 is increasing to $380 per day.

EssentialLTC Upload Documents Update


Effective immediately, all agents who have access to their own electronic signature program may use it to submit an EssentialLTC application via the Upload Documents function in the Agent Resource Center on the NGL website

This November marks the 19 th anniversary of Long-Term Care Awareness month, presenting an opportune time to discuss why Long-Term Care insurance [LTCi] should be considered a vital part of one’s financial plan.

Long-Term Care Awareness month often encourages reflection about wellness, leading people to evaluate how they are prepared for the future the future – both physically and financially. Remember, LTCi not only provides benefits should one experience a long-term care need, but it can also protect the income and assets – 401[K]s, IRAs, pensions – that clients work so hard to build. Take advantage of the awareness raised throughout this month’s campaign to discuss the importance of proper long-term care planning with your clients. 
Great New Resource for Long-Term Care Awareness Month
The National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors [NAIFA] has a great new resource to utilize during Long-Term Care Awareness month and beyond. The Limited & Extended Care Planning Center [LECP] assembles stakeholders from around the industry, including carriers and organizations much like our own. It provides an array of educational resources on topics ranging from Worksite LTCi to changes in healthcare, allowing you to stay current on all the trends from around the industry. Premium Rate Action
John Hancock will soon be filing for an increase of premiums on certain individual long-term care insurance policy series. They will be requesting an average increase of approximately 30% across most of their LTC insurance business . Benefit adjustment options to help insureds mitigate the impact of the rate increase will continue to be offered, including two premium neutral options; the Shared Cost option and reduced inflation landing spots. Starting next month, John Hancock will begin filing with state Departments of Insurance. Watch our newsletter for announcements of state approvals.
