Dear Lyons Township High School Community,
On behalf of the District 204 Board of Education and LTHS staff, I would like to take a moment to express our appreciation and gratitude to our students, staff and families for an outstanding 2024-25 school year filled with many achievements and opportunities for growth. This year, we have accomplished so much together, from academic successes and inspiring performances to athletic triumphs and community-building events and activities. I encourage you to read our magazine, Inside Look, which highlights our mission to Excellence, Innovation, and Empowerment. This is a glimpse of what makes LT such a special place and emphasizes the success of our district throughout this past year. We’re proud to connect and share with our current, past and future families, students and community members.

LT just completed the 3rd year of our comprehensive 5-year strategic plan that was adopted in June, 2022. Our community’s efforts throughout the last three years have included significant progress in the areas of student achievement, learning environment, attracting a high quality and diverse staff, community partnerships, and effective allocation of resources. Throughout the spring semester, we took the time to meet with a variety of school and community-based groups to solicit additional feedback that we can use to evolve the goals, objectives, and strategies within our plan. These groups have included representation from our Board of Education, students, parents, staff alumni, and community members.
I continue to be excited about Groundwork for a Brighter Future, which will serve as a multi-year journey to modernize our two campuses and enhance the learning environment for all of our future Lions. In the Fall, we look forward to opening an amazing cafeteria/commons space and new music (band, choir, orchestra) facilities at South Campus. Overall, the first phase of this project is a 3-year, approximately $45 million project, which involves projects at both campuses, and will be completed in 2026.
The LT Community Advisory Council (LTCAC) met quarterly to learn about, discuss, and provide feedback on important school-related topics. The LTCAC serves as a critical communication link between community members and the school, and members include students, parents, community members, staff, and administrators. Topics covered this year included: Learning Environment and Supports (Strategic Plan Goal 2), Resource Effectiveness and Efficiencies (Strategic Plan Goal 5), LTHS Community Voice: Strategic Plan Reflection and Feedback Forum and Family and Community Partnerships (Strategic Plan Goal 4). View the webpage for meeting materials and recaps.

| | In April, the District 204 Board of Education welcomed newly elected members Christine Kozelka Campbell (LTHS ’93, Founder and CEO of Gemini Gymnastics Academy in La Grange), Gioia Giannotti Frye (Co-Founder and Vice President of Operations for (r)evolution architecture, llc and Founder of Giannotti Multicultural Marketing Communications), Shawn Kennedy (LTHS ‘90 - Independent Licensed Financial Advisor) and Elias Lopez, (LTHS Graduate - Hodgkins Director of Parks). Service to a Board of Education is a critical aspect of the public education process in our country, and I know that each of these individuals are personally committed to this work. In addition, I am looking forward to partnering with our newest Board members to lead and support our amazing school community. Also, at the meeting, the Board elected Board officers, Tim Albores (President), Jill Beda Daniels (Vice President), and Gioia Ginannotti Frye (Secretary) and established future meeting dates and times for the 2025-26 school year.

Vita Plena Recipient Darius Chancy
The Vita Plena Award has been presented by the Superintendent to a deserving individual since the mid 1990’s. The award is generally presented to an individual who embodies the themes of inspiration, creativity, kindness, selflessness, and, overall, someone who goes above and beyond in service to our school community.
During the May 19 Regular Action, I was pleased to present a Vita Plena Award to Darius Chancy. After graduating from LT, Darius began his career at LT in 2018 as a temporary groundskeeper. He transitioned into a role as a permanent custodian and then eventually to his current role where he serves as the District Driver. In this role, Darius does so much for our community, as he is the friendly face that drops things off, makes supply runs to various stores, and delivers items from campus to campus. All of this occurs in cold, snow, and rain, and most importantly, he always does it with a smile on his face and a positive attitude!
Congratulations to Darius Chancy!

This year has been a celebration of growth, learning and collaboration. I am continually amazed by the dedication that our entire community brings to our district which has greatly contributed to making this a truly remarkable school year. LT’s students, families, faculty and staff have so much to be proud of.
When we return in August, our focus will remain steadfast on providing the best possible education and support to our students in the upcoming school year. With our teachers, staff and administrators continuing to work on implementing curriculum, creating engaging lessons and providing resources and services - we are providing our students with a high-quality education to be college and career ready. Our students work collaboratively and solve complex problems. They are the best and brightest citizens of tomorrow. Together, we are creating a better world by inspiring each student to reach their full potential.
Have a great summer!
