I Believe In Fairness, Fun, And Sharing What I’ve Learned

With The People Who Make This Planet A Great Place To Live

Make the Most of It!

July was so Dickensian, don't you think? ...The best of times and the worst of times! Wild fires caught up with us, as did the heat and poor air quality. I think we all know someone who has been evacuated or is on alert. It is fascinating to hear what people consider "essential" when planning to flee their homes. It would make a good study someday, if it wasn't so depressing in the moment. I'm revising my own evacuation "essentials" list, having done poorly at a recent fire drill.

Typical for July, there is not much board work. It's a good reminder that boards are still responsible for all the same stuff, even when they're not meeting. If the CEO "checked out" in the summer the way some boards do, our organizations would fail. I don't check out, but I did have time to catch up on professional development webinars, stacks of magazines, and the odd "tidy-up-the-office" things.

July held many rehearsals and lots of logistical wrangling for my new Fringe play. This stretches my comfort zone, but it also exercises many creative bits that are bogged down by routine. If you or someone you know is in Edmonton August 15-25, please share information about I Diana. Link below to purchase tickets starting August 7th.

I've also been busy helping a friend whose change in health has necessitated another move. I honestly don't know how regular people navigate seniors health care and housing. There is a market (likely in every province/territory) for an "agent" or "advocate" to navigate the ins and outs of these complex systems. I am NOT this person.

I continue to blessed with people who make me laugh, make me think, and make me grateful As more and more friends face health challenges, home challenges, and general life challenges, it is marvelous how we still find friends to lean on when we need it most.

Further to a question from last month's ezine, remember the roundabout diagram? Those in the roundabout have the right-of-way. Everyone else must yield before entering the roundabout. Do this correctly and you'll be even more loved than you already are! Have a happy August.
