LUM Board Honors Franciscan Health
25 Year Gift of Linens to the LUM Shelter
At last night's monthly meeting, the LUM Board of Directors honored Franciscan Health for the hospital’s annual donation of 12,000 sets of sheets, blankets and pillowcases to the LUM Emergency Shelter . The hospital has been providing clean linens for the homeless for 25 years.

Sister Petra Nielsen, Vice President Administrative Services & Rick Bremer, Director of Environmental Services, attended the meeting to accept the recognition and commemorative plaque on behalf of Franciscan Health. LUM Follies is a lighthearted evening of fine dining, entertainment, fun & good company, filled with joyful surprises. One hundred percent of the proceeds from this event go to the LUM Good Samaritan Fund , an emergency financial assistance program that supports local families. Upcoming LUM Events - Save the Dates
It's Spring! And it's a great time of year to add these important LUM events to your calendar.

LUM Camp  (July 30 – August 3) – A week-long, overnight camp program at Hanging Rock Camp for children from 8 to 10 years old from low-income families. Why not say “yes” this year to being a volunteer LUM Camp Counselor?

Hunger Hike  (September 15-16) – Saturday, September 15 is the 6th Annual HH5K Run. Sunday (9/16) is the traditional Hunger Hike 3K Walk. Proceeds benefit LUM Food Programs, Food Finders Food Bank Inc., and St. Thomas Aquinas’ Haiti Ministry. Mark your calendars and get your team together.

Port of Hope  (November 8) – Port of Hope is an evening fundraising event in support of the LUM Immigration Clinic. The event includes heavy appetizers from local restaurants, a silent auction featuring items from around the world and entertainment by musicians from around the world.

Community Thanksgiving Celebration  (November 22) – The LUM Community Thanksgiving Celebration is on Thanksgiving Day from noon to 2 p.m. at Central Presbyterian Church (Lafayette). More than 800 people will be served dinner and dessert, and you may be a part of this special program by volunteering or making a donation.

Turkey Trot 5K Run/Walk  (November 22) – Start off your Thanksgiving day with the Turkey Trot 5K Run/Walk at 8 a.m. on the Cattail Trail Loop, Celery Bog Nature Area, West Lafayette. Runners, walkers, dogs, strollers, wagons & turkey hats are welcome. All Turkey Trot proceeds benefit local families through the programs and services at LUM.

Jubilee Christmas  (December 8) – LUM Jubilee Christmas serves over 600 families and 1800 children. Parents visit one of dozens of churches and shop for their children. In addition to the toys and clothes, each family also receives a ham and homemade cookies to make Christmas dinner special too.

Teachers - Summer Childcare
Type : Full-time, Paid
Hours :
Monday – Friday, 8-hour shifts (6 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. & 8:15 a.m. – 4:45 p.m.)
Pay : $15.00 per hour
Dates : May 29, 2018 – August 3, 2018
Requirements :
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education
  • Must pass a background check, medical (TB) & drug screen
  • Must complete all State required training
Duties :
  • Assisting in supervision and assuring safety of approximately 40 children pre-K thru 6th grade
  • Preparing children for entering into Kindergarten
  • Assisting children in improving their skills in Math, Reading and Science
  • Creating and teaching curriculum
  • Assisting in scheduling and supervising field trips
  • Interacting with parents and community members

Bus Drivers - After School Childcare
Type : Part-time, Stipend
Hours : Monday – Friday, 2:15 – 3:15 p.m.
Stipend : $1,300 for the School Year (prorated)
Dates : NOW through May 25, 2018, when Lafayette School Corporation is in session
Route : LUM Youth Center to Schools to Central Presbyterian Church
Requirements : Must have a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
