LUM Camp - Fun, Lively & Live-Giving
Message from Wes Tillett, LUM Executive Director
Mr. Wessssss!!!” The third-grader spotted me from across the room and ran to hug me. She was one of the LUM Campers from last summer. When she saw me, she saw a familiar face from her fun, lively, and life-giving week at LUM Camp. She saw me as someone safe, as someone fun, as someone who had gone down the zip line, led silly songs before and after meals, and been the unlucky “winner” of a shaving cream “award" (pictured below).
All the joyful memories of LUM Camp seemed to be rushing through her beaming face. “How long until LUM Camp? Will you be there?” she asked excitedly. I smiled and replied, “It’s the last week of July. And, yes, I’ll be there. I can’t wait!”

I love LUM Camp! I know of at least two people who are super excited for LUM Camp this July… that third-grader and me. I know there are another 83 children who will jump at the chance to experience LUM Camp, and reap the benefits of that experience for the rest of their lives.

With so many local children eagerly awaiting their chance to attend LUM Camp, would you please invest in both their short-term fun and their long-term life skills by offering them the gift of LUM Camp?
LUM Camp - Only Possible Because of YOU
Sponsor a Local Child to Attend LUM Camp 2024
LUM Camp, a vital component of LUM Youth Programs alongside the LUM After School Program and 5th Quarter Summer Learning Program, provides local children aged 8-10 with a premier camp experience. With activities like swimming, horseback riding, arts, and chapel, guided by caring counselors, LUM Camp offers a transformative week of fun and growth.

Your support is crucial in making LUM Camp a reality. Would you consider sponsoring a child to attend? A donation of $300 sponsors one LUM camper, $600 sponsors two, or $150 covers half a sponsorship. From the countless stories of impact to scientific research affirming its long-term benefits, LUM Camp has been changing lives since the 1960s. This July 23-26, LUM hosts another unforgettable experience at the beautiful Hanging Rock Christian Camp, but we need your help to ensure that 84 children can benefit from this transformative week. Your contribution beyond the $5 parent contribution, covers the costs of transportation, food & lodging, camp activities, and supplies. Your investment will not only provide short-term fun but also long-term life skills and memories for these children. Will you join us in offering the gift of LUM Camp to local children eagerly awaiting their chance to attend?
Celebrating the LUM Westside Food Pantry
Completing 3 Impactful Years for Our Community
As LUM prepares to bid farewell to the LUM Westside Food Pantry, the LUM leadership paused to honor the incredible impact it has had on our community over the past three years. During this time, approximately 36,700 pounds of food were distributed at the LUM Westside Food Pantry 1,835 times to 479 households impacting 8,334 individuals. The journey has been one marked by dedication, compassion, and hard work from the Westside Food Pantry volunteer team.

To commemorate the profound impact of the LUM Westside Food Pantry and to celebrate the tireless efforts of our volunteers, the LUM Board hosted a celebration of the LUM Westside Food Pantry (pictured). It was a moment to come together, reflect on the collective achievements, and express gratitude for the lasting legacy LUM and the Westside Food Pantry volunteers created. Everyone involved should take pride in the impact they have had and carry forward the lessons learned and the bonds formed, knowing that these efforts have truly made a difference in the lives of so many individuals and families.

LUM food programs now focus on the expansion of the LUM Protein Food Pantry, which will be open each Monday afternoon and Thursday morning beginning June 3. If you are interested in getting engaged as a donor or volunteer, click the buttons below.
